Lula orders federal government to take control of policing in Brasília as extremists refuse to accept his presidency

Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva has ordered the federal government to take control of policing in Brazil’s capital, Brasília, after hundreds of hardcore supporters of the former president Jair Bolsonaro stormed the country’s congress, presidential palace and supreme court.

The massed attack was a stunning security breach that was immediately compared to the 6 January invasion of the US Capitol by followers of Donald Trump in 2021.

“What we are witnessing is a terrorist attack,” the news anchor Erick Bang announced on the GloboNews television network as word of the upheaval spread. “The three buildings have been invaded by coup-mongering terrorists.”

Took a whole week for the Commie President's edicts to cause a boilover. Same playbook as J6. Steal an election with outright fraud then send in the Fed incitement squad. Now Lula can weaponize the entire Brazilian government against the "terrorist" Bolsonaro supporters.  Just like the illegitimate scumbag we have.

I wish them well. The military need to step in before the leftists can ruin the nation.

The Washington playbook won't work as well in Brasil as it does in America. Blinken, Sullivan will periodically meet with Lula and tell him to run things a certain way. Brasil is shaped more like a triangle, whereas the US was more of a diamond.

Lula does have gangs in Rio on his side and he uses them. No telling from my scant knowledge how that will play out. Kind of depends on how the police split or if they get disaffected. Police in Brasil will machine gun you down in the back, if you commit a robbery and do not halt when they they tell you to. We shall see how Rio goes.

It is a very tough town 4 or more Marines were on shore leave in Rio several years back. They were told to travel in numbers for protection. They still got tore up.

It will be interesting to see if Lula lines hos pockets again. He might not be prosecuted right away or at all, but his lieutenants will take not and imitate. That trend could make Brasil a shithole in 10 to 30 years.

I second that

Isn't Brazil already a shithole? I was in Sao Paulo 7 years ago and that was my impression.
