A Chinese aircraft carrier strike group has conducted intensive live-fire drills in the South China Sea since the US Navy sent its USS Nimitz strike group to the area last week.
The flotilla is led by the Shandong, China's first domestically built aircraft carrier, and includes a Type 055 stealth guided-missile destroyer and three guided-missile destroyers.
The strike group began a series of confrontational drills in the South China Sea last week, the PLA Navy said on its WeChat account on Sunday.

Maybe not as god as an American carrier, but better than a LPH. It looks plenty dangerous.

Navies always put out pictures like these, but they are coming out more often now.
Almost like they are trying to size each other up and cow the other one.
First domes the strutting and flexing.
Then comes the head butting.
Then all out.
Good move.
Not to worry. If the US Navy gets into a confrontation with the Chinese Navy, the US plan devised by Admiral Rachel Levin and endorsed by Biden is to dispatch a drag queen, gender-fluid individual schooled in feminism, Black Lives Matters and Critical Race Theory rhetoric to hector the Chinese into surrender.
Sometimes they just go once you get in their face.
