KYIV -- The average lifespan on the frontline of the fierce fighting in the city of Bakhmut is "four hours," according to an American fighting side by side with the Ukrainian army against Russian forces in the Donbas.

Former U.S. Marine Troy Offenbecker, of Michigan, told ABC News that the situation in the city, which has seen some of the deadliest fighting since Russia's full-scale invasion, is "chaotic" and has been dubbed "the meat grinder."

"It's been pretty bad on the ground," he told ABC News. "A lot of casualties. The life expectancy is around four hours on the frontline."

Update: The average life expectancy of a frontline soldier in eastern Ukraine is around 4 hours, an American fighting in 'the meat grinder' says (Insider)

WNU Editor: One of my Ukrainian cousins maintains a social media page for families who are looking for information on loved ones who have been listed missing in combat. She tells me the battle in and around Bakhmut is the worse. She has lost count on how many have been listed missing in that specific conflict zone.

Gee another bullseye for the blog. This area has been called a meat grinder on this blog since december.

Embedded in the article is another back up article from the insider.

Read it. At the end they quote Vicky nuland. Worth while to read her words. Because when she speaks you know she is lying. Kind of like Hillary.
Therefore you can figure that the opposite of any thing she says is the real truth

But I thought Russia had it surrounded and captured? Oh wait that was 6 months ago.. like what’s russias problem there, don’t they have like 500k troops and can’t even take one small city???

Out of touch boomers are OBSESSED with territorial gain. Too much football.

NY Jets fan: "Haha, you didn't gain an INCH while destroying my armed forces with a 15:1 kill ratio"

Clausewitz: "...I'm going to just walk around you now, goodbye."

Russia is the one obsessed with territorial gains, only problem is they don’t seem to have the weapons or troops to accomplish much…quite the quagmire

No I do think Russians are obsessed with territory.
If they were. They would have done things differently.

You look at their past actions. Have they rolled tanks into Azerbaijan, Georgia or any other country and taken it over and then kept It? No.
This is not the Soviet Union.
The question is not the capacity to take Ukraine. But the capability to do so.

In the next 30 days, We will see if they have learned any lessons in the last year of fighting.

Why try to sieze Bakhmut when Ukraine continues to sacrifice men there every day? It's pretty smart actually... Russia is hanging back and slaughtering a sizeable part of Ukraines army. Frankly I think its horrible that Ukraine and its backers continue to fight the war the way they do. In the end it will be for nothing

Just out of curiosity, what is the difference between capacity and capability as you use them?

Simple version
Capacity.

You have a big dog, he is very strong and has big teeth. He has the capacity to guard your home and protect you on your daily walks.

Capability:

The dog is not trained. So it barks every 5 minutes , won't listen to you, and runs after anything that moves birds, deer, cars. Pulls like a freight train on a leash.

The dog has no capability, so he is useless.

Get the dog trained and you will be ok

Don't, and all you have is a big moocher with teeth.

Russians have all the assets they need to be victorious.

They lack capability....training and more training, combined with the capability of "will". The will to attack with full strength, no holds barred.

Hope this helps.
