MOSCOW (Reuters) -President Vladimir Putin said on Thursday that Russia would pay increased attention to boosting its nuclear forces by deploying a much delayed new intercontinental ballistic missile, rolling out hypersonic missiles and adding new nuclear submarines.

A year since ordering the invasion of Ukraine, Putin has signalled he is ready to rip up the architecture of nuclear arms control - including the big powers' moratorium on nuclear testing - unless the West backs off in Ukraine.

Putin on Tuesday sought to underscore Russian resolve in Ukraine by suspending a landmark nuclear arms control treaty, announcing new strategic systems had been put on combat duty and warning that Moscow could resume nuclear tests.

How exactly does that save your life big fella?

Because mutual destruction is not a win for Russia and would be considered a loss for them because it shows their conventional forces are garbage and all they have is a few broken down nukes🤡🤡

Putin's "little man" behavior and it's impact is quite a legacy. His Ukraine adventure is just one of a number brought upon the long suffering young men who do the dirty work. Stalin's 1939 Finland invasion, anyone? You say you want a more exotic local? Afghanistan OK? How about some dietary adventures for the overweights in Ukraine in the early 1930's? What do those ungrateful ukes call it? Holidor or something similar?

Putin is a disaster for many Russians, in my opinion. He has tarnished Gorbachev's boldness of undoing the iron curtain of the last century which freed Russians to experience a better life. That was, in my life, one of the greatest events a politician ever did.
