Finland's 'Party Prime Minister' Sanna Marin has lost lost her bid for a second term - as a right-wing coalition claims victory over her Social Democrats in an extremely tight general election.

WNU Editor: Finnish Prime Minister Sanna Marin 's party was re-soundly defeated in this election, and only days before Finland is to be formally accepted by NATO. Her defeat also continues the Zelensky curse. The EU political leaders who support Ukraine President Zelensky seem to have a history of getting defeated in the next election.

Well I do not follow Finish politics. What were the reasons she was defeated? Economy, social, Foreign policy?

Whatever happened to the "Far Left"? Maybe they're considered Moderate now. Seems issues that just 30 years ago were quite mainstream (and are still shared by AT LEAST large minorities) are now associated with Far Right. Are (legitimate) concerns about border security Far Right? Seems the leftist media have painted them so. Given their politics at the time, both JFK and RFK today might well be considered Far Right. Yes, times change as do political views. But it's more than that today. If you're not in step with the liberal status quo, you're either painted as Far Right or, in some cases, cancelled.

EDIT to add: Don't know much about Finnish politics, so maybe what they call Far Right IS that. I was just thinking in general about how these labels are often applied today.

If the WNU editor was a decent blogger we'd have found out, but he wants us to think she got defeated simply due to her support of Zelensky.

The shift from left to right has been happening for a while now. This defeat is just another part if that. It will also continue.

There was the party scandal a year ago. Perfectly normal and legal, but bad optics.

The optics were a nothing burger, if the economy is good. Or if you have a strong Ministry of Truth ground game like in the US.
