BBC: US and Philippines begin largest-ever drills after China exercises
The US and the Philippines are holding their largest-ever joint military drills a day after China concluded large-scale exercises around Taiwan.
Over three days, China's military rehearsed blockades of Taiwan in response to the island's leader meeting the US House Speaker last week.
Washington criticised China's display of firepower as disproportionate, while Taiwan President Tsai said it was "irresponsible" and she had the right to make visits to the US.
The US drills had been earlier planned. Filipino and US officials say the drills show their commitment to peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region that is open and free.
Washington announced last month that their annual Balikatan exercise with the Philippines would be their largest ever - involving more than 17,000 troops, including 12,000 from the US.

The missiles are to try to enter negotiations with west/usa. Those negotiations were sunk by the treacherous John Bolton but after firing Bolton, Trump could have pursued them again. He made gains--fact. The State Dept. does not want any gains, although the people of South Korea would. Not full Rapprochement yet, but at least a formal cessation of hostilities.
Ordinary man Trump understood the benefit of this. The Swamp disagrees.
Trump was and is flawed. I accept Trump for his flaws. I have an aunt who accepts Trump for his flaws. She reads the Bible every day, She knows or believes that Trump has a wandering eye. My liking over Trump has been constant.
My liking of Bushes (really any Bush) has not. The same goes for Bolton.
Trump listens to people. He listens to Black leaders. When the presidents of historically Black colleges made their yearly pilgrimage to beg officials for Federal money. Trump put a stop to it. He wrote them a check for 5 years. They do not have to grovel yearly before elected officials. You can do a lot better planning with multi year funds than yearly funds. Plus Trump saved them 4 trips to Washington so he gave them back 2 to 4 weeks of time that they could use for administration fundraising among private entities or citizens. etc.
The way I have Trump figured is that he would complete the wall upon which time he would turn around and grant amnesty. It would be done and done. I expect that the Trump was would mean instead of 300,000 illegals a year it would be 30,000. Walls are not perfect and never were. I do not expect a perfect wall. Walls are force economizers. It takes fewer people to man a stretch of wall than if there were no wall. The utility of walls are well understood in this context.
