Reuters: Russia detains Ukrainians for plotting attack on nuclear power station lines

MOSCOW (Reuters) - Russia's internal spy agency said on Thursday it had detained two Ukrainian saboteurs plotting to blow up the power lines of two nuclear power stations to shut down the reactors and embarrass Russia on the eve of this month's Victory Day holiday.

The Federal Security Service (FSB), the main successor to the Soviet-era KGB, said that the saboteurs working for Ukrainian foreign intelligence had laid explosives on a total of 11 pylons of the Leningrad and Kalinin nuclear power stations.

"The plan of the Ukrainian special services was to prompt the shutdown of the nuclear reactors, disrupt the operation of the nuclear power plants and cause serious economic and reputation damage to the Russian Federation," the FSB said in a statement.

The attacks were due to take place on the eve of the May 9 anniversary of victory over Nazi Germany, the FSB said. It did not say when the men had been arrested.

Supposing for the sake of argument that power lines from nuclear plants are blown. the power plants shut down, because supply has to be balanced with load. The nuke shuts down and there is no radiation.

How far away does a pylon for high voltage lines have to be before WNU would not bleat nuclear? 1 mile? 10 miles? 100 miles? 1,000 miles? 12,000 miles?

Power goes out and some weapons factories may have to stop production. That is the real problem here for WNU.

Too bad the security company went under. Maybe WNU could have stood on his own two feet then.

That bomb guy with the hazmat suit on.. looks staged as fck
why would you do a PHOTO while you are diffusing shit and then on top lay it out orderly for a picture and only wear a hazmat suit. lol plus that suit doesn't look like it would protect you from anything but a cold bug.. ok maybe good enough for a quick in and out, but why then if your health matters so much, you take time for this photo and laying it out orderly like this lol
