The Politico: F-16s won’t be a ‘magic weapon’ for Ukraine, Milley warns
Top leaders also announce that Denmark and the Netherlands are leading an international effort to train Ukrainian pilots.
The military’s top general cautioned Thursday that F-16s won’t act as a “magic weapon” for Ukraine, but the U.S. is fully behind a group of NATO allies taking the lead on training and potentially transferring the jets to Kyiv.
“The Russians have 1,000 fourth-generation fighters,” Joint Chiefs Chair Gen. Mark Milley told reporters at the Pentagon following a virtual meeting of the multinational Ukraine Defense Contact Group. “If you’re gonna contest Russia in the air, you’re gonna need a substantial amount of fourth and fifth generation fighters, so if you look at the cost curve and do the analysis, the smartest thing to have done is exactly what we did do, which is provide a significant amount of integrated air defenses to cover the battlespace and deny the Russians the airspace.”

Momentarily Medved analysis on F16 is to counter them using HG-V Flak though had not been tested it will be highly effective. Medved had basis during simulations held at Heiti Gestobako
You really need Dr Zeus , never said that . I said Russia with all its aircraft has failed to gain air superiority over Ukraine ! FACT .
Ukraine has never said F16 is a magic bullet but it does act as a force multiplier over UKRANIAN airspace . It will give them double the air to air engagement range with the new missiles and more powerful radars ,. Whereas the Luftwaffe (aka Russians) have been firing from 100km away with impunity.
The Grippen is the ideal jet for Ukraine , and Sweden has allowed training on them , so hopefully down the track you'll see squadrons of Grippen and Tornafos also , Australia will hopefully will give its mothballed FA 18s also.
Even the a FSB Tass prodigy love child like you can understand what the F16 brings to the table.
