WNU Editor: About two months ago I read a survivor account from a Ukrainian soldier saying that even after hitting a Russia soldier with a few rounds he and his platoon still kept on charging and eventually were succesful in driving them out of their fortification. From the above video we now know why. It looks like the Rusian army has some of the best body armor in the world.‼️πΊπ¦π΄☠️The fighters of the Armed Forces of Ukraine decided to test the body armor of the Russian army and were stunned

How Good Is Russian Army Body Armor?

That's likely a BR6 rated plate, designed to stop high calibers. Only special forces and elite platoons wear those. You are living in gaga land of you think every Russian soldier has this.
Most Russians be lucky to have any protection at all.
I've seen plate carriers on plenty of Russian soldiers
From the countless videos that I have seen. Almost all Russian soldiers on the front lines have plate protection.
The Russians have different requirements and manufacturing outputs. than the west. They are under emergency decree so they have to make what the state wants, profit or no.
I would not be surprised if all of their troops NOW have good plates. Especially now. Russian armaments industries have been surging for at least 6 months.
And after all the hoopla of the Russian army being "inadequate" during the first part of the war. I bet the Russian high command was pretty much shamed.
Especially with the Mothers of soldiers meeting with Putin and all. Who wants to have their neck on the line for giving the troops bad equipment? But yes that was true at the beginning of the war.
Now if anyone try's to do that, they would become a pariah in Russia.
It wasn't long ago when there were plenty of Russian videos showing the complete uselessness of Russian body armor. So has the situation changed and Russia is now able to make high quality body armor in high numbers to equip their entire army? Or is it a case where this is elite troops that can be equipped with the relatively low capacity of Russian industry to manufacture high grade armor plates as the first poster said?
I don't know, but given the obvious decline in Russian military capabilities and operations I suspect it is the latter. We do know that Russia is using most of their elite forces as common infantrymen given the degraded qualities of many Russian units.
The Russian arms industry has certainly surged, nevertheless we are still seeing declining Russian artillery ammunition stocks. And the "new" Russian tanks showing up on the battlefield are not T-14 Armatas but refurbished T-55s. So I am suspicious that the Russians have somehow greatly improved their manufacturing quality.

Making plates is not rocket science. Once you set up the line and got the raw materials , you can make these things by the millions just like a coke bottle. It has been over a year since the war began. It would be surprising if the Rusikies did not have decent plates at this point in the game.
What has been said does not add up.
Russian manufacturing is doing fine. Did not the Europeans and Americans say 3 weeks go that they could not keep up with Russian production rates?
you can't tourniquet a taint - aim for the pelvis
"It's not enough to kill a Russian soldier. You then have to knock him down." --Frederick the Great
But not what's inside them
But not what's inside them , let's not disregard the number of videos showing the opposite .
If every Russian soldier had these plates their losses wouldn't be as high as they are .
The losses might not be as high as you think. Also like I said above. Yes, at the beginning for the war the plates were junk. But it has now been over a year. A long time and these plates are not hard to make.
Bottom line, do any of us really Know?
No we do not.
So we keep watching and try to get a confirmations. The Editors sources have been pretty good so far this year and Hans is no idiot.
So I am inclined that the ruskies are getting new plates and probably at an accelerated rate.
as always..we will see.
One thing is sure, the russians learn more and more every day and after watching these guys for over a year.... they are getting better every day.
The worry now is that with this combat experience and testing of thier equipment in combat their learning curve will only increase. This does not bode well for NATO and the Americans.
In modern warfare a very high percentage of casualties is caused by bombs/explosions/shrapnel. great body army will not save you from the effects of high speed over pressure from bomb blasts.
Ron
I agree!
In the Second World War 70% of combat casualties on the German-Soviet front came from artillery. I am hearing and reading reports from both sides that in this war 90% of casualties are from artillery. The soldiers on both sides, with the exception of the storm-troopers, rarely see each other. In such a war, plates will not be effective from the shock-wave or from multiple shrapnel wounds that today's artillery can produce.
Poor Russian Troll A having a real bad run, looks like Russia can thank China for those vests. So much for Russsian production
