Ukrainian Navy vessels and a Royal Navy helicopter from a previous exercise.

Kyiv Post: Romania and US to Hold Exercises in Black Sea and Danube Delta

Romania and the US are to hold join naval exercises in the Black Sea and Danube Delta, it has been announced. Called ‘Sea Breeze 23.3,’ the drills will take place from September 11 to 15 with military personnel from Ukraine, Bulgaria, France, the United Kingdom and Turkey will also taking part.

WNU Editor: I am reading reports that other NATO countries will be involved, including the UK.

This is a deliberately orchestrated provocation against Russia that had to be signed off by the Oval Office. This is an incredibly dangerous move that will result in a Russian response if these vessels approach the Crimean or Russian coast.

Update: According to TASS, the countries that will be involved in this exercise are the US, Romania, Bulgaria, the UK, Turkey, Ukraine and France .... Romania, US to hold naval exercise in Danube delta, Black Sea with US, Ukraine, allies (TASS).

How will Nato get there in the first place? The strait is closed. Drag all the boats over land or what?

The Strange Assignment of USS Lanikai

"In 1941, on secret orders from the President, the hastily commissioned schooner Lanikai was ordered in the path of the Japanese Fleet. Her real mission, suggests the author, was to provoke the Japanese to sink her, and trigger U. S. entry into World War II.
The Strange Assignment of USS Lanikai"

Is Washington trying to trigger a direct conflict with Russia?

Who cares?! Russia has some of the kindest, gentlest assholes you will ever meet.

Russia may have to refrain from targeting Ismail or grain ships leaving Ukraine for turkey lest they target an American ship by accident. It will cramp Russia's style. It might give Ismail respite.

Russia has contributed so much to the overt American communist party, those who were covert, the environmental movement, the LGBT movement, the anti-war movement, labor strikes and more.

After all the damage Russia has done, who really gives a damn if there is an honest, balls out shooting war? Russia has been engaged in hybrid warfare against the US since at least the 1930s.

1918/1919 Well so what? When you say you are going to take over the world, you don't expect intervention?

Turkey is going to allow this? Something tells me this is just wishful thinking

Dragging boat overland has a long and illustrious history. Swedes use to do it. the Turks did and took Constaninople.

Before the Corinth Canals boats were hauled overland across the isthmus.

Some US Navy boats can sail up the Rhine and down the Danube. It will limit the size of the boats. Of course the boats might have a robust air defense capability and might be missile bait.

The people who are crying are the ones who said it was just an exercise on your border before it became a Special Military Operation.

Do we have an address so we can all send WNU a box of Kleenexes?

Nice blithering from the peanut gallery today. Always ready to gamble with other peoples lives or fates. A truly selfish lot.

What a great idea? Let's hold military exercises next to an active combat zone.

You have to be really stupid to do such a thing. But then again, it is the best and brightest in charge.

Don’t forget that Russia infiltrated the 2016 U.S. Federal election and installed one of their henchmen for four years. Nobody should underestimate how powerful Russia really is. Or was it all a lie? 🤷‍♂️

Anonymous said...

The Russians did not, but they spent $80,000 on Facebook ads and they also tried to stir the pot on partisan enmity.

The Russians flipped state is a Shrill Hillary excuse why that unlikeable SOB lost an election.

Maybe Russia should not have made it a combat zone in the first place.

Always ready to gamble with other peoples lives or fates. - Jackass Minor

"The US will face the fact that at some moment terrorists will again carry out an attack in the style of 11/09/2001, but with nuclear or biological component.

Or even worse: one of the leaders of the nuclear-armed countries will lose his nerve and make an emotional decision to use Weapons of Mass Destruction. Moreover, the nuclear club is constantly expanding and a significant part of it is not obliged by any commitments," wrote Medvedev aka Jackass Major

So high and mighty Russian politicians threaten America daily with destruction nuclear or otherwise and Jackass Minor expects Americans not to get inured to such threats.

"Biden is accused of bankrolling 'extremists who hate America' as he agrees to pay rogue nation Iran $6 BILLION for FIVE US hostages - or $1.2B each - in deal announced on 9/11 anniversary"

Biden in the running to take the title of Jackass Major moniker from Medvedev.

you can do a lot of other things rather than to put your forces in harms way, for nothing but show.

But selfish jackasses like you care not. that's because all you think about is you.

Exercises have many uses.

- Improve professional expertise.
- Improve military expertise
- Show material deficiencies, so they can be remedied.

First thing Timur the Lame did on his way to defeating Moscow's enemy the golden horde was to hold a parade after crossing the Starving Steppe. A parade is a military exercise.

- An exercise can improve or disprove military doctrine.
- An exercise can improve interoperability between nations.

The U.S. invited China to RIMPAC in 2014. But China and Russia decided to go the fascist route.

- An exercise can reassure allies
- An exercise can ward of aggressors.

An exercise is more than for show.

The Russians had a joint exercise with China several years back. The scuttlebutt was that it was a warning to China and the US.

An exercise is more than for show.

Call me what you want, IDC, my communist spouse will make sure I a not late for dinner.

Everything you say is correct. But to think that it is a good idea to run a military exercise in a war zone is nuts.

It is like using a weed wacker around a beehive. Why do it if you do not have to?

You are asking for trouble.

Not a very bright idea.

Hans, my favorite Herman commenter ... I mean Swedish commenter, I posted about the Danube Canal

Do I really know? No. but it is possible to move some of the smaller naval ships that way.

Arleigh Burke Destroyer

72 built. 72 active

Length :
Flights I & II: 505 ft (154 m)[7]
Flights IIA & III: 509.5 ft (155.3 m)[7]

Beam:

66 ft (20 m)[2]

Rhine Danube Canal

Maximum boat length: 190 m (623 ft)
Maximum boat beam: 11.45 m (38 ft)

So an Arleigh Burke destroyer is not going through the canal.

I see no ships. How accurate is the map?

"Called ‘Sea Breeze 23.3,’ the drills will take place from September 11 to 15 with military personnel from Ukraine, Bulgaria, France, the United Kingdom and Turkey will also taking part."

"The main objective of conducting Exercise Sea Breeze 23.3 is to develop operational and tactical interoperability between the participating countries, in the field of combating explosive devices, in particular, drifting sea mines"

In other words to clean up Russia's messes.

"The exercises will involve armored boats, amphibious armored personnel carriers, reconnaissance aircraft and other equipment."

Since Turkey is taking part, maybe Turkey will let warships into the Black Sea so long as they depart within a week of the exercise concluding.

The article is very short and uninformative.

I would be very surprised if they did all that work...

Cool map tho! Haven't seen it before. I can stare at things like this for hours. I remember the first time I found that "Thunder and Lightning" map many years back, were I could watch live lightning strikes as "dots" anywhere on earth. Wasted many beers and hours on that one...
