Politico: Dissed by Saudi Arabia, lectured by Egypt: U.S. diplomacy meets Mideast reality
Secretary of State Antony Blinken says no one wants the Israeli-Hamas conflict to grow, but Arab leaders won’t take sides.
America’s intense war-time diplomacy is so far failing to sway Arab countries in the Middle East — and President Joe Biden’s planned visit to the region may not help.
In recent days, Secretary of State Antony Blinken has been nearly ghosted by Saudi Arabia’s crown prince and given a bizarre history lesson by Egypt’s ruler.
U.S. officials have been unable to get most Arab leaders to denounce Hamas for the Palestinian militant group’s brutal attack on Israel or make statements supporting Israel’s military response.

WNU Editor: Blinken was sent there to lay the groundwork for US President Biden's trip to the Middle East, but what a disaster this has become. Blinken travels to Cairo and was immediately ripped to pieces by the Egyptian President. He travels to to Saudi Arabia, and he is kept waiting for a day by Saudi Crown Prince Salman (link here). In Jordan, he receives nothing but criticism and condemnation. But the Western media narrative is that he is working hard and making strides to resolve the crisis in Gaza (link here). And this is all happening before the Gaza hospital massacre!!!
Instead of stepping back and trying to de-escalate the situation, the US is responding with a massive arms buildup that its sheer scale sends the message that the US is preparing to target Hezbollah/Syria/and Iran.
I have mentioned before and I will mention it again. I have been a close observer of US foreign policy and diplomacy for over 4 decades. I have never seen such an incompetent US administration when it comes to foreign policy as this one. Their policy is based on confrontation and escalation and the world knows it.
On a side note. And this is what diplomacy is all about. Yesterday, with the support of Chinese President Xi, Russian President Putin had phone/video discussions with the Egyptian President, Syrian President Assad, Saudi Crown Prince Salaman, Iranian leaders, Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, and Israeli President Netanyahu. Of all the calls the most difficult for Putin would have been his last one with Netanyahu. And while details of those talks are still private, I am willing to bet that the purpose of that last call by Putin was to not lecture Netanyahu but to brief him on what was the result of his conversations with the other Middle Eastern leaders. It is not being reported in the West, but Putin/Xi are positioning themselves to be the peacemaker in this war, and I am already seeing the groundwork being laid for an off-ramp to this conflict.
My concern is this .... will Washington torpedo these de-escalation and peace efforts as they did when they torpedoed the peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine in March of 2022 brokered by Turkey that would have ended the war. You tell me.

Oh jeez. Child Pred Fred Lapides and his anon boot licker lapdogs will be coming in hard with their bias of omission, single factor analysis, and partisan apologetics because WNU has an opinion and "wrong-spoke" about the current admin.
:D
Editor, You are correct. Blinken and Biden's efforts are like a hand full of sand that pours from your grasp.
Unless a person is blind, the "actions" of the Arab states speaks volumes. (Especially in their culture)
No President or Secretary of State has EVER been treated like this in 50-75 years. The USA is not respected. That is not good for those of us that live in the USA.
And the major shock is Jordan. They have been trusted and loyal Allies of the US for years.
This whole situation is a signal of siesmic shifts in the political and diplomatic landscape. The significance of this political upheaval can be compared with the fall of the Soviet Union.
In recent times, The Russian Ukrainian war.... and now this situation......the world will never be the same.
The Ukrainians just broke through in Kherson again.
The Russian 70th infantry division is going to get mauled. Severely mauled. Falaise Gap type of mauling. They are going to have to retreat with out their gear and lose most of their kit.
Without the M14 and M17 MSRs how are the Russians going to send food and ammo to the 70th?
There are other roads. But roads are like rockets. You need to remember that one. It is a gem. It will save your butt from foolish endeavors.
Roads from ports on the southern coast are off limits by sea due to the Russians being chased out of the Western Black Sea.
WNU is correct about the diplomacy thing I think. His military analysis is incorrect. the whole diplomacy thing shows what a bad smell Biden and Blinken will leave n the scene long after they leave. Biden's presidency is one of the things Demonrats will not want to talk about for a hundred years.
There are 3 popular reference to the word Ahab. There are Captain Ahab from the novel "Moby Dick" (which is not taught any more), Ahab for the Bible and the 1962 song
"Ahab the Arab" .
It kind of dates Mr. 10:40/10:47.
The comments by 10:40/10:47 kind of shows 10:46 has not fahrvergnügen. Like a 4 stroke engine missing 3 strokes.
Wow, Mr. Nobody. What to say. He was busted as the same person who write the BLOB posts. He has the same vocab. Jordan's king is not loyal and he is not decent. He merely know which way the wind is blowing.
The population of Jordan? A relative of mine went to Jordan. They observed armored cars practically on every street corner. Who in Jordan is loyal and what are the loyal to?

Too bad you neither have the wit nor intellect to understand what was said.
Can you deny the diplomatic situation as it played out? Yes? no? maybe?
that was the point of what was written.
But no, all you can do is parrot your narrative from your key board.
And what is your "ahab" reference got to do with anything? It is inane.
And yes, unlike you, I have been to Jordan. As a matter of fact we happened to train many Iraqis there during the war and the Jordanians were always on our side.
What your relative happened to see with the security situation in Jordon is not uncommon. In third world countries, the police are heavily armed and have a lot of armored vehicles.
How do I know? Because we trained them.
The president is not respected? What a news flash. I agree. Joe Biden is not respected.
Jordan is a loyal ally. On that one you are safely on the reservation but very wrong.
Ahab was directed at someone else. I used a two carriage return/ blank space break between my comments addressing (the funny in his own mind) Ahab and you.
Jordan security is not typical of Thailand or the UAE(90s). It is not typical of any Latin America country I lived in or visited in the 70s (10). A few of those Latin American countries might have changed like Venezuela. Those are not 3rd world. They are now communist shit holes.
It was not true of Egypt in the early 80s.
