Bill and Hillary Clinton launched their 13-city paid speaking tour in a Canadian hockey arena Tuesday evening, where there were banks of empty seats and the power couple accused President Trump of joining a Saudi 'cover-up.'

The Clintons riffed on issues ranging form the U.S. elections to the Iran deal, the killing of Osama bin Laden, and the murder of Saudi dissident Khashoggi, and got a warm reception from the crowd as they jabbed at the Trump administration from north of the border.

'What makes this so troubling is how much commercial interest both the president's family and business and his son in law's family and business have with the kingdom,' said Hillary Clinton in one of a series of shots at President Trump, who defeated her in 2016.

The fall of Col. Muammar el-Qaddafi seemed to vindicate Hillary Clinton. Then militias refused to disarm, neighbors fanned a civil war, and the Islamic State found refuge.

IT WAS A GRISLY START to the new era for Libya, broadcast around the world. The dictator was dragged from the sewer pipe where he was hiding, tossed around by frenzied rebel soldiers, beaten bloody and sodomized with a bayonet. A shaky cellphone video showed the pocked face of Col. Muammar el-Qaddafi, “the Leader” who had terrified Libyans for four decades, looking frightened and bewildered. He would soon be dead.

The first news reports of Colonel Qaddafi’s capture and killing in October 2011 reached the secretary of state in Kabul, Afghanistan, where she had just sat down for a televised interview. “Wow!” she said, looking at an aide’s BlackBerry before cautiously noting that the report had not yet been confirmed. But Hillary Clinton seemed impatient for a conclusion to the multinational military intervention she had done so much to organize, and in a rare unguarded moment, she dropped her reserve.

“We came, we saw, he died!” she exclaimed.

Two days before, Mrs. Clinton had taken a triumphal tour of the Libyan capital, Tripoli, and for weeks top aides had been circulating a “ticktock” that described her starring role in the events that had led to this moment. The timeline, her top policy aide, Jake Sullivan, wrote, demonstrated Mrs. Clinton’s “leadership/ownership/stewardship of this country’s Libya policy from start to finish.” The memo’s language put her at the center of everything: “HRC announces … HRC directs … HRC travels … HRC engages,” it read.

Midway through Barack Obama’s first term as president, U.S. officials grew alarmed that Israel might launch a unilateral air strike against Iran’s nuclear program. Iran had snubbed Obama’s outreach after the 2008 election, and rejected an October 2009 international proposal to ship most of its enriched uranium out of the country—stirring pessimism about prospects for a future breakthrough.

“Militarily, I thought we needed to prepare for a possible Israeli attack and Iranian retaliation,” former Defense Secretary Robert Gates writes in his new memoir, Duty. At a January 2010 Oval Office meeting, Gates told Obama “he needed to consider the ramifications of a no-warning Israeli attack,” including whether the U.S. would assist Israel and how it would respond to Iranian retaliation.

Around the same time, senior officials met to discuss ways the U.S. might dissuade Israeli Prime Minister from taking unilateral action. In one such meeting, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton raised a bracing question, two former Obama administration officials tell TIME: Was it possible that, instead of trying to restrain Israel, the U.S. should instead provide what one of those official described as “a tacit green light to the Israelis to take care of the problem for us”? In other words, instead of begging Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to give diplomacy more time, perhaps it was worth telling him to go proceed with airstrikes.

"I take responsibility," Clinton said during a visit to Peru. "I'm in charge of the State Department's 60,000-plus people all over the world, 275 posts. The president and the vice president wouldn't be knowledgeable about specific decisions that are made by security professionals. They're the ones who weigh all of the threats and the risks and the needs and make a considered decision."

My Comment: This admission is a start, but I would not be surprised if the administration and many in the media will now use this public statement by Hillary Clinton as an excuse that this story is now over. On the contrary .... blaming the administration's inadequate explanation on what happened in Benghazi as being due to the "fog of war" is not good enough. There are many questions that still need to be answered, including the big one which is answering the allegations that it deliberately attempted to play down suspicions of terrorist involvement in the attack. But I expect the administration to now close down any debate on what happened, and much of the media will probably comply. This is unfortunate because this is a big story .... people died including an American Ambassador. And while any other administration would be faced with a press corps that would be clamoring and reporting on this story 24/7, there are no reporters camped out of Hillary Clinton's or Susan Rice's home, no yelling at the President for answers, and no calls for Hillary Clinton's resignation. Just commentary that this is all due to politics .... and it now time to move on.

Lima, Peru (CNN) -- Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said the buck stops with her when it comes to who is to blame for security ahead of a deadly assault on the U.S. diplomatic mission in Benghazi, Libya. "I take responsibility" for what happened on September 11, Clinton said in an interview with CNN's Elise Labott soon after arriving in Lima, Peru, for a visit. The interview, one of a series given to U.S. television networks Monday night, was the first she has given about the attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi. Clinton insisted President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden are not involved in security decisions. "I want to avoid some kind of political gotcha," she added, noting that it is close to the election.

My Comment: After almost 5 weeks of contradictions and misinformation .... I am finally hearing someone in the U.S. government taking responsibility for this fiasco. VILNIUS, Lithuania — Issuing new warnings to two U.S. partners Tuesday, U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton criticized Russia for a parliamentary election she said was rigged and said election gains by Islamist parties must not set back Egypt’s push toward democracy after the fall of autocrat Hosni Mubarak this year.

She acknowledged the success of Islamist parties in Egyptian parliamentary voting that the U.S. has praised as fair. But many of the winners are not friendly to the United States or U.S. ally Israel, and some secular political activists in Egypt are worried that their revolution is being hijacked. Islamist parties are among the better-known and better-organized in Egypt, and while they were expected to do well in last week’s first round voting, a hardline bloc scored surprisingly large gains.

When Secretary of State Hillary Clinton arrived unannounced in Libya earlier this week it took a military plane to get her there, the Boeing C-17 Globemaster III.

In this video, Clinton is seen reviewing briefing papers in a colorful shawl, with sunglasses in the bright and slightly chilly aircraft.

The aircraft is used to carry massive amounts of cargo — troops, food, supplies — all over the world, often on humanitarian relief missions. The inside of the aircraft can be configured any way suitable for the mission, and on this mission Clinton sat in a quartet of seats, with aide Huma Abedin next to her. Most of her staff was in a different section of seats, with press and security personnel on the sides.

Excuse me, but when Washington announces a revolutionary change in the way it conducts its relations with the outside world it is normal for the American Secretary of State to be involved in some way.

So where’s Hillary Clinton? We’ve heard a lot from President Barack Obama and Robert Gates, the Defence Secretary, about their lamentable decision to abandon the missile defence system in Europe, which has been a key pillar of the transatlantic alliance for a decade or more. But we’ve heard not a squeak from Mrs Clinton.

My Comment: She did show up later this afternoon reading from a prepared statement .... otherwise .... she has been AWOL. It does not take a genius to figure this one out .... the White House wants her out of the loop as much as possible.

This is not a good sign. The State Department has been neutered by this administration .... but with Europe in an uproar over what has happened, this is the time that you need a State Department to mollify your allies.

MUMBAI (AFP) – US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on Saturday called for a global fight against terrorism after paying tribute to victims of last year's deadly Mumbai attacks, as she began a visit to India.

Clinton, on her first trip to India as Washington's top diplomat, linked the attacks which left 166 people dead to those in the United States on September 11, 2001 and Friday's deadly hotel bombings in Jakarta.

"These events are seared in our collective memory," she told a news conference at the Taj Mahal Palace and Tower Hotel, where she is staying and where 31 guests and staff lost their lives during the Islamist militant siege.

She chose the prestigious setting of the Council on Foreign Relations to reclaim her stake as the nation's chief diplomat after six months as Secretary of State in which after a burst of initial publicity she has struggled to be heard among other heavyweight voices in Barack Obama's administration.

Despite being well received overseas, and travelling more extensively than some of her predecessors, Mrs Clinton has been had to assume a back seat to a president determined to remake America's image in the world through a series of high profile appearances overseas.

My Comment: For a Secretary of State who has been absent at the U.S.-Russian summit and the G8 .... everyone quickly learned who was running American Foreign policy .... and it has not been her.

But I think this situation is going to change. The U.S. economic crisis is getting worse, and with "Health Care" and "Cap and Trade" being the priorities for the President, the focus will now shift. This shift will give her an opportunity to take center stage on the international scene .... but on only a few specific issues.

The secretary of State has been unusually frank on hot topics such as North Korea and Pakistan. Some find her candor refreshing, but others say it could hurt U.S. diplomacy.

Reporting from Washington -- For years as North Korea defied the West with its nuclear program, U.S. officials considered international negotiations their best chance, if not their only hope, for dealing with the renegade regime.

So it came as a jolt when Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton seemed to say recently that the Obama administration was throwing in the towel on the talks. The idea that North Korea would take part, she said, was "implausible, if not impossible."
