Why Was Osama Bin Laden Not Captured? -- IBTimes

Wikileaks has unravelled some of the documents which reveal the truth behind inaction than action by the United States in Afghanistan in the last one decade.

It was long wished that the U.S. army would one day nail down the most wanted terrorist Osama bin-Laden and bring him to Guantanamo Bay detention center. But the latest string of leaks reveal that al Qaeda had warned to set off a “nuclear hellstorm” if Osama bin Laden is ever captured or killed.

My Comment: I doubt that Al Qaeda has access to nuclear weapons. The reason for my analysis .... if Al Qaeda had nuclear weapons, they would have used them a long time ago. As for Osama Bin Laden .... he does not strike me as a person who would want to keep nuclear weapons on the side even if it is to protect his own skin. He wants to be a martyr, and will have used them ASAP once he had possession of them .... even if he only had one bomb.

Hillary Clinton Fears al-Qaeda Is Obtaining Nuclear Weapons Material -- Times Online

Terrorists including al-Qaeda pose a serious threat to world security as they attempt to obtain atomic weapons material, Hillary Clinton, the US Secretary of State, declared on the eve of a global summit in Washington to prevent a nuclear terror attack.

President Obama will call on the leaders of 47 nations today — the biggest gathering of heads of state by a US leader since the founding of the UN in 1945 — to introduce tougher safeguards to prevent nuclear material ending up in the hands of terrorists. As far back as 1998, Osama bin Laden stated that it was his Islamic duty to acquire and use weapons of mass destruction.

Hayden: Al-Qaida Would Use Nuclear Device -- Newsmax

Former CIA Director Michael Hayden said the agency has taken it as “a matter of faith” that if al-Qaida obtained a nuclear weapon, they wouldn’t hesitate to use it against the United States.

“If they had the ability, they would do it,” he told Newsmax.TV in an exclusive interview.

“Now as a practical matter, if you’re asking me in my professional persona, it’s weapons of mass destruction they’re after. It’s probably easier for them to work with chemical or biological weapons than with a nuclear device.

My Comment: Fortunately for us .... wishing for something is not the same as having it. For Al Qaeda they have made their intentions clear a long time ago, but to get their hands on a nuclear weapon systems is far more difficult than what they had originally contemplated. If they do get their hands on a nuclear device, it would be because of a foreign government's involvement .... but I can guarantee you that the consequences for such an action will be suicidal for them.

Al Qaeda Says Would Use Pakistani Nuclear Weapons -- Reuters

DUBAI (Reuters) - If it were in a position to do so, Al Qaeda would use Pakistan's nuclear weapons in its fight against the United States, a top leader of the group said in remarks aired on Sunday.

Pakistan has been battling al Qaeda's Taliban allies in the Swat Valley since April after their thrust into a district 100 km (60 miles) northwest of the capital raised fears the nuclear-armed country could slowly slip into militant hands.

My Comment: They have the manpower, the will, and the money that will buy the resources to produce a WMD .... whether nuclear, biological, or chemical. What they lack is the expertise, a location to put such a weapon together (the tribal regions of Pakistan are not ideal nor do they have a compliant country), and the means to transport such a weapon to the target country.

Lets keep it that way.
