Fattah missile is a “big generational leap" for Iran weaponry, state TV says 

Iran on Tuesday unveiled what officials are describing as its first domestically-made hypersonic ballistic missile, one it claims can "bypass the most advanced anti-ballistic missile systems of the United States" and "Israel’s Iron Dome." 

The Fattah missile, which was showcased at a ceremony attended by Iranian President Ebrahim Rahisi and commanders of the country’s Revolutionary Guards Corps, has a top speed of around Mach 14 – more than 10,000 mph -- according to Reuters, citing Iranian state media. 

"The precision-guided Fattah hypersonic missile has a range of [870 miles] and it is capable of penetrating all defense shields," Amirali Hajizadeh, the head of the Guards' aerospace force, was quoted by Reuters as saying to state media.

Iran claims to have developed a hypersonic missile that is unstoppable by all current anti-air defences. 

General Amirali Hajizadeh, head of the IRGC's aerospace unit, said Thursday that Tehran now possesses a ballistic missile that moves at 'high speed and can manoeuvre in and out of the atmosphere' - making it harder to shoot down. 

General Hajizadeh said the missile is designed to target enemy anti-air systems and is a 'generational leap' forward in terms of Tehran's military technology.

WNU editor: I am skeptical of these Iranian reports. This technology is not easy to develop. The U.S. is playing catch-up on this technology, and the only other two countries that are developing these type of missiles are Russia and China.

Iran announced Saturday the successful test flight of a rocket capable of propelling satellites into space, three months after launching a satellite with the help of Russia. 

This comes amid rising tensions with Western countries as Tehran is alleged to have provided Moscow with military equipment to help its Ukraine war efforts. 

The United States has repeatedly voiced concern that such launches could boost Iran's ballistic missile technology, leading to the potential delivery of nuclear warheads. But Iran insists it is not seeking nuclear weapons and that its satellite and rocket launches are for civil or defensive purposes only.

Sputnik: Satellite Images Reveal Possible New Ballistic Missile Base in Iran, Report Suggests 

The report compiles satellite images through several years, showing construction activities at the site. 

Satellite images by Capella Space reveal concrete structures and what appear to be tunnel entries in what Israeli-based The Intel Lab says might be a new ballistic missile base. 

According to The Intel Lab, which describes itself as an intelligence consultancy, construction at the site began in around 2005, with two tunnels being excavated 400 metres below crest level. 

The site is reported to be 28 kilometres northwest of Isfahan City Centre in central Iran.

Images reveal 4 holes dug into mountainside 

The Iranian Khorgo underground ballistic missile site is almost operational after new launching positions were constructed, satellite images obtained by Fox News show.

Images taken by Maxar Technologies reveal four holes dug into the side of a mountain. Three of the shafts are hardened vertical launch positions in their final construction phase, according to a separate analysis done by the civilian intelligence group Intel Lab. 

"Considering the geographic location as well as the existing topography, once this complex reaches full operational capability, it will not be an easy task to neutralize it by conventional means," said Chief Intel Lab Analyst Itay Bar-Lev.

Reuters: Iran releases footage of Revolutionary Guards 'missile city' base 

(Reuters) - Iran released images and film footage on Monday of what it said was a new Revolutionary Guards base armed with cruise and ballistic missiles and “electronic warfare” equipment. 

A report on state TV described the base as a “missile city” and showed rows of what looked like missiles in a depot with cement walls.

It did not give any details on its location. Alireza Tangsiri, the head of the elite Revolutionary Guards’ naval unit, told state TV the base had equipment to detect enemy signals. 

The report said the base’s “electronic warfare equipment” included radar, monitoring, simulation and disruption systems.

Iran displayed a surface-to-surface ballistic missile on Thursday with a range of 870 miles and a new cruise missile, ignoring U.S. demands that Tehran halt its missile programme.

'The surface-to-surface missile, called martyr Qassem Soleimani, has a range of 1,400 km and the cruise missile, called martyr Abu Mahdi, has a range of over 1,000 km,' Defence Minister Amir Hatami said in a televised speech.

Pictures of the missiles were shown on state TV, which it said was 'the newest Iranian cruise missile that will further strengthen Iran's deterrence power'.

Times of Israel: Iran claims to have built underground ‘missile cities’ on Gulf coast

IRGC Navy commander says Tehran has also established offshore missile facilities that will be a ‘nightmare’ to the country’s enemies.

A top commander in the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said Sunday that Iran has built underground “missile cities” all along its southern coast, warning they would be a “nightmare” for Tehran’s enemies.

Rear Admiral Ali Reza Tangsiri, who heads the IRGC Navy, said Iran has also constructed so-called missile cities offshore. He said the sites contain surface-to-air missiles.

“Iran has established underground onshore and offshore missile cities all along the coasts of the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman that would be a nightmare for Iran’s enemies,” he told the Sobh-e Sadeq weekly, according to Reuters.

On the 22nd of April, Iran surprised the world by successfully launching the Noor satellite, using a previously unknown Satellite Launch Vehicle (SLV) which they call Qased.

The US Space Force confirmed that Noor reached orbit, together with a second object, assessed as the spent upper stage.

A detailed analysis of the Qased, based on open sources and using computer simulations to calculate trajectories, shows it has a strong relationship to the Shahab-3 ballistic missile Qasedand the Safir SLV, together with a number of unusual features for an SLV. If SLV compromises were removed, restoring the design optimization for use as a ballistic missile, the Qased can reach Central Europe and parts of Northern Europe, depending on its payload mass.

* The nation’s top military officer said Tuesday that Iran’s recent military satellite launch, the first for the rogue regime, is a concerning feat.
* Iran said last month that it successfully launched a military satellite, another move in the heightened tit-for-tat fight between Washington and Tehran over the regime’s missile programs.
* U.S. officials have long feared that Iran’s pursuit of developing satellite technology is a cover for ballistic missile activity.

WASHINGTON — The nation’s top military officer said Tuesday that Iran’s recent military satellite launch, the first for the rogue regime, is a concerning feat.

So, the bottom line is yes, it is a security concern anytime Iran is testing any type of long-range missile,” explained Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Army Gen. Mark Milley.

“They launched a satellite vehicle and I think we publicly stated that it was tumbling, so the satellite itself, not overly concerned about it, but the missile technology, the second and third-order missile technology and the lessons learned from that is a concern,” he added.

FOX News: Iran's military satellite a 'tumbling webcam in space,' Space Force commander says

The first satellite launched into space by Iran last week that revealed the country's secret military space program is nothing but “a tumbling webcam in space," the head of the U.S military's newest service said Saturday.

Iran's Revolutionary Guard said Wednesday it put up a “Noor," or "Light," satellite into a low orbit circling the Earth after using a mobile launcher at a new launch site.

U.S. Space Force commander Gen. Jay Raymond gave his military assessment on Twitter late Saturday afternoon of the satellite.

"Iran states it has imaging capabilities—actually, it’s a tumbling webcam in space," he tweeted.

FOX News: Iran says it launched first military satellite amid US tensions

Iran’s paramilitary Revolutionary Guard said on Wednesday that it launched a military satellite into orbit amid wider tensions with the United States, a successful launch after months of failures.

“Iran’s first military satellite, Noor, was launched this morning from central Iran in two stages. The launch was successful and the satellite reached orbit,” state TV said, according to Reuters.

There was no immediate independent confirmation of the launch.

The U.S. State Department and the Pentagon, which say that such launches advance Iran's ballistic missile program, did not immediately respond to a request for comment from the Associated Press.

On its official website, the Guard said the satellite successfully reached an orbit of 264 miles above the Earth's surface.

Moves come days before Islamic Revolution anniversary, routinely used by Iran to display tech advances for armed forces.

In the space of a few hours on Sunday, Iran unveiled a new ballistic missile and launched a domestically-built satellite - which failed, however, to reach orbit.

The launch of the satellite happened at 7:15pm local time at Imam Khomeini Spaceport in Iran's Semnan province, some 230km (145 miles) southeast of the capital, Tehran. State television said, however, that a Simorgh rocket could not put the Zafar 1 communications satellite into orbit due to a low speed.

Iran's latest attempt to put a satellite in space in spite of US opposition ended in failure, an Iranian defense ministry official told state media, Reuters reported Sunday.

"It was launched with success and ... we have reached most our aims ... but the 'Zafar' satellite did not reach orbit as planned," the official told state television Sunday.

The latest failure marks the fourth time in a row Iran has been unable to successfully put a satellite in space.

In January 2019, the Iranian rocket carrying the satellite into space failed to reach the "necessary speed" during the third stage of flight, a senior telecommunications official told state media, the Associated Press reported at the time.

RFE: Pentagon Report Says Iran’s Missile Arsenal Unequaled In Middle East

Iran’s arsenal of missiles is unmatched in the Middle East, even bigger than Israel’s, a U.S. Defense Intelligence Agency report said on November 19.

Over the past 40 years, Iran has developed “an extensive missile development program, and the size and sophistication of its missile force continues to grow despite decades of counterproliferation efforts aimed at curbing its advancement," the Pentagon study said.

Despite decade of sanctions imposed on it, Tehran’s vast projectile force includes ballistic missiles that could strike Israel and Saudi Arabia at ranges of 1,250 miles (2,000 kilometers).

Two years ago, Iran showcased a 1,250-mile-range missile, which can carry multiple warheads and appeared to use technology from North Korea, the report said.

An Iranian official has tweeted at President Donald Trump over an apparent rocket failure, showing an image of him standing next to a satellite that was supposed to be launched.

Iran's Information and Communications Technology Minister Mohammad Javad Azari Jahromi tweeted the image Saturday of himself with the Nahid-1 satellite.

'Me & Nahid I right now, Good Morning Donald Trump!' Jahromi wrote in the tweet accompanying the picture.

An Iranian space rocket blew up today according to satellite images of its smouldering remains on a launch pad in the desert.

The pictures were taken on Thursday morning over the Imam Khomeini Space Center in Semnan province, and suggest the Islamic Republic suffered its third failed launch this year alone.

State media and officials did not immediately acknowledge the incident at the Imam Khomeini Space Center in Iran's Semnan province.

However, satellite images by Planet Labs Inc. showed a black plume of smoke rising above a launch pad there, with what appeared to be the charred remains of a rocket and its launch stand. In previous days, satellite images had shown officials there repainted the launch pad blue.
