IBTimes: ISIS Vows War Against Saudi Arabia: Islamic State Group Threatens Arab Monarchy After Announcement Of Anti-Terror Coalition

The Islamic State group released videos earlier this week calling for attacks against Saudi Arabia and vowing war against the Arab monarchy after it announced the formation of a 34-member Muslim coalition to combat terrorism. In a new execution video, fighters accuse the Saudi kingdom of joining a coalition of "crusaders," and challenge the nation to send boots into Syria to fight them, various outlets reported Friday.

One of the videos shows a fighter encouraging the beheading of Shiite citizens in Saudi Arabia, followed by the gruesome execution of an alleged Saudi spy. The video flashes to scenes of galloping horses and gun battles. The video is emblazened with the ISIS logo, and SITE Intelligence Group has verified the video, Newsweek reported.

Saudi Arabia has arrested 431 suspected ISIS militants believed to have been planning a fresh wave of attacks on mosques, security forces and a diplomatic mission.

The kingdom's interior ministry said it had 'destroyed an organisation made of a cluster of cells' linked to the barbaric jihadi group.

The announcement came just two days after a car bomb exploded at a checkpoint near the country's highest security prison, killing the driver and wounding two officials in an attack claimed by ISIS.

WNU Editor: If it was a dozen arrested .... I would say that the threat is there but it is not that big. But 431 arrests !?!?!?!?!.... if these are real suspects (and not the usual round up up the usual suspects) it then tells me that ISIS has penetrated Saudi Arabia far more than what the authorities are saying.

ISIS has its next target, and it’s one that threatens U.S. interests in the region more than anything you’ve seen from the terrorist group so far.

Two weeks. Two suicide bombings. Both targeting Shiites in a Sunni land. And both claimed by ISIS.

If this were Iraq or Syria, these attacks—sadly—wouldn't be surprising. But it's not. It's Saudi Arabia, home to Islam's most precious sites and the region's most powerful Sunni rulers—a relatively vast territory, kept remarkably stable by the ruthless application of authoritarian rule while its neighbors teeter under the destabilizing weight of popular revolution and terrorist intervention.

And that's just the way the U.S. government likes its friend, Saudi Arabia. Because Washington needs stability there more than it needs to feel good about how the House of Saud achieves it.

Reuters: Suicide bomber kills 21 at Saudi Shi'ite mosque, Islamic State claims attack

A suicide bomber killed 21 worshippers on Friday in a packed Shi'ite mosque in eastern Saudi Arabia, residents and the health minister said, the first attack in the kingdom to be claimed by Islamic State militants.

It was one of the deadliest assaults in recent years in the largest Gulf Arab country, where sectarian tensions have been frayed by nearly two months of Saudi-led air strikes on Shi'ite Houthi rebels in neighboring Yemen.

More than 150 people were praying when the huge explosion ripped through the Imam Ali mosque in the village of al-Qadeeh, witnesses said.
