President Trump And His, U.S. Intelligence Chief Push To Declassify Document On Russia's 2016 Election Role

Reuters: Exclusive: Trump, U.S. intelligence chief push to declassify document on Russia's 2016 election role - sources

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump and his intelligence chief have pushed for quick declassification of a document disputing the 2017 intelligence community finding that Russia acted to help Trump get elected in 2016, three U.S. government officials familiar with the matter told Reuters on Thursday.

But their effort faces strong objections from inside the intelligence agencies, two officials said on condition of anonymity given the sensitivity of the matter. One reason for their opposition is the proximity of the Nov. 3 election.

An Oct. 15 letter written by Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe to the inspector general for the intelligence community, reviewed by Reuters, confirmed he was seeking the declassification of the document at the request of Devin Nunes, the senior Republican on the House Intelligence Committee.

US Senate Investigators Have Demanded That Hunter Biden Turn Over All Records Of His Business Dealings Within 48 Hours

Zero Hedge: Senate Demands Hunter Biden Turn Over Bank Records Wire Transfers Account Balances And Travel Records

Senate investigators have demanded that Hunter Biden turn over a mountain of evidence following bombshell emails and text messages which appear to show he and his business partners engaging in an international influence-peddling scheme while his father was Vice President of the United States, according to CBS News' Catherine Herridge - who brought receipts as usual.

"According to recent reports that published emails allegedly from your client’s laptop, the Committees have identified your client as an individual involved in one or more of these business arrangements or financial transactions," reads a Wednesday letter from Sens. Ron Johnson and Chuck Grassley.

WNU Editor: Demanding all of these documents within 48 hours is asking for the impossible. Hunter Biden does not strike me as someone who is meticulous over his records. I know I would not able to do it, and I am meticulous about everything. Maybe his lawyers have already taken care of this and organized his business affairs because they expected it, but I have my doubts.

Former Hunter Biden Business Partner Tony Bobulinski Says He Is Providing All Evidence To The FBI That Implicates Joe Biden Doing Business Deals With China

 * A series of texts and emails about Hunter Biden's purported to involve his business operations came to light Thursday
 * Some appear to reference Joe Biden as the 'chairman' and one message between business partners says 'Don't mention Joe being involved'
 * Another has a reference to 'My Chairman' – who could be Biden
 * 2017 email lists 'phase one domestic contacts' It was provided by James Biden to Hunter Biden and others discussing venture with Chinese energy company
 * President Trump has already said he plans to raise Hunter issues at debate Fox News says they were obtained not from Hunter laptop that Rudy Giuliani gave to the press
 * The disclosures come as President Trump has been hammering Joe Biden for 'corruption' - and he is bringing one of the business partners, Tony Bobulinski, with him to the debate in Nashville
 * Biden has denied any overseas business dealings and has called the release of emails from son Hunter's laptop a 'smear.'

President Donald Trump’s campaign pulled off another pre-debate surprise Thursday, putting a former business partner of Hunter Biden on camera to level the charge that Joe Biden was ‘familiar’ with his son’s business dealings in China.

Former Hunter Biden business partner Tony Bobulinski spoke to reporters at the Marriott in downtown Nashville three hours before start time of the final presidential debate – and said he will turn over three cell phones to the FBI and meet with Republican senators about his former business deals.

He said he was angry with Hunter after he wanted to use funds for a prospective deal with a Chinese energy company was his ‘Hunter’s personal piggy bank.’

WNU Editor: A good summary on what was revealed today by former Hunter Biden business partner Tony Bobulinski is here .... In Shock Presser, Hunter's Ex-Biz Partner Speaks; Says Turning Over "All Evidence To FBI" (Zero Hedge). What's my take. The Bidens have a lot of enemies. This former business associate is definitely one of them. He is also a Democrat who has contributed to the Democrat party and candidates. He is also clearly miffed at the Bidens. Tony Bobulinski also said he is giving everything to the FBI tomorrow. Three cell phones. Text and email messages. Documents. Agreements and other evidence. All to provide proof to his claim that the former Vice-President is lying when he says that he was not involved in his son's business affairs. I do not know where this breaking news story is going to go. It is not illegal to do business with China, and even President Trump has a bank account in China. But it is an October surprise directed at the former Vice President, and if he does not address it properly and soon, it is going to suppress his vote.

Update: I thought the main stream media was not going to cover this story. But it looks like that is now changing. Reuters is now carrying this story.

More Details Emerge On Why President Trump Walked Out On The 60 Minutes Interview

 * President Donald Trump posted his full interview with '60 Minutes' on Facebook Thursday showing that he cut the back-and-forth short after 37 minutes
 * 'I think we have enough of an interview, let's go, let's go,' Trump said after someone reminded him Vice President Mike Pence would join them soon
 * Trump had bristled that Lelsey Stahl had kicked off the interview by asking the president, 'Are you ready for some tough questions?'
 * He brought that up directly before he cut the interview short telling the journalist, 'That's no way to talk'
 * Earlier Thursday, he had tweeted that he would release the '60 Minutes' interview in its entirety before the show broadcasted it on Sunday

President Donald Trump posted his full interview with '60 Minutes' on Facebook Thursday showing that he cut the back-and-forth short after 37 minutes. 'I think we have enough of an interview, let's go, let's go,' Trump said, after someone off-screen had mentioned that the vice president was due to join him for the Q&A in five minutes.

The White House had taken their own footage of the CBS News interview for the 'archive.'

WNU Editor: Apparently what ended the interview was when President Trump realized that .... Stahl was repeatedly denying the reality of two scandals — the evolving Hunter Biden scandal and the Obamagate scandal. Stahl said 60 Minutes could not air Trump’s comments about the scandals because “we can’t verify them.” More here .... Update: Guess how many times CBS reporter Leslie Stahl interrupted President Trump in their 37 minute interview. Hint. It is a lot (see below).

Russian President Putin Says Germany And China Are Emerging Superpowers

© Reuters / Fabrizio Bensch

The era when world affairs were decided between Moscow and Washington is long gone, Russian President Vladimir Putin said, adding that other countries, such as China and Germany, are on their way to becoming superpowers.

"In terms of its economic weight and political influence, China is actively moving towards the status of a superpower. Germany is moving in the same direction,” Putin said, addressing a meeting of the Valdai Discussion Club think tank via a video link. The role of the UK and France in international affairs has also been significantly transformed, he added.

Russian President Putin Says Russia-China Military Alliance 'Quite Possible'

© Sputnik / Sergey Mamontov

Russian President Vladimir Putin says there is no need for a Russia-China military alliance now, but notes it could be forged in the future.

Mr Putin, speaking at the annual meeting of the Valdai Discussion Club via video conference on Thursday, signaled deepening ties between Moscow and Beijing amid growing tensions in their relations with the United States.

When asked during the conference if a military union between Moscow and Beijing was possible, Mr Putin replied that "we don't need it, but, theoretically, it's quite possible to imagine it".

My Take On Tonight's Presidential Debate

Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden and U.S. President Donald Trump arrive to participate in their second 2020 presidential campaign debate at Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee, October 22, 2020. REUTERS/Jim Bourg/Pool

WNU Editor: Moderator Kristen Welker could have done a better job. At the beginning she was interrupting President Trump too much, but after 30 minutes she pulled back and did OK. President Trump is far better in this debate than the first one, even with Welker's constant interruptions. He had problems talking about his taxes and explaining Hunter Biden's laptop. But his remarks on crime, black incarceration, race relations, immigration, etc. .... Trump needed to give Republican-leaning holdouts an excuse to vote for him, and he did that tonight.

Like President Trump in the first debate, former Vice-President Biden showed the "ugly" side of his character in this debate. Especially when his son's laptop and his history on passing crime bills that incarcerated many minorities was mentioned. His promise to transition from oil was an eye-opener. This is what happens when you are not use to being challenged. He also rambled too much in his 2 minute segments. But I predict his supporters will be happy with his performance.

The big moment in this debate was when Joe Biden promised to phase out the oil industry, and repeated that again when the moderator asked him why would he do that. Wow! Joe Biden just lost Pennsylvania and who knows what else.

Even while negotiations are continuing, it is clear that developments on the battlefield are driving events far more strongly than anything agreed over the negotiation table.

Azerbaijan’s armed forces are continuing to advance deeper into previously Armenian-held territory, raising the prospects of an offensive into the heavily populated core of Nagorno-Karabakh itself.

Gallup Poll: 56% of U.S. Voters Say Trump Does Not Deserve Reelection. 68% Believe Members Of Congress Do Not Deserve To Be Reelected

Gallup: 56% of U.S. Voters Say Trump Does Not Deserve Reelection

 * 68% of voters say "most members of Congress" do not deserve reelection
 * 60%, however, believe their personal House representative does deserve it

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The majority of U.S. registered voters, 56%, believe President Donald Trump does not deserve to be reelected, while 43% say he does. Voters are even less likely to think "most members of Congress" deserve reelection (29%), although six in 10 say their own House member does.

These data are from a Sept. 30-Oct. 15, 2020, Gallup poll.

The percentage of voters who say Trump deserves reelection to a second term is down seven percentage points from Gallup's previous measure in January -- a much different time in Trump's presidency, when confidence in the U.S. economy was high, the Senate was preparing to vote to keep Trump in office during his impeachment trial, and only a few cases of COVID-19 had been confirmed in the U.S.

WNU Editor: President Trump's approval numbers from Gallup are going up .... Trump Job Rating Steady; Other Mood Indicators Tick Up (Gallup). These polls were done from October 1 - October 15, reflecting President Trump's first debate performance and his positive Covid-19 test. I would not be surprised if this poll was done now, his numbers would be higher. As for Congress. Voters may not like congress, but they are satisfied with their representative. This tells me that there will be few if any changes in Congress and the Senate.

President Trump Invites Hunter Biden Ex-Associate Tony Bobulinski As A Guest To Tonight's Final debate

President Trump is expected to bring former Hunter Biden associate Tony Bobulinski as his guest to the final presidential debate Thursday night,

Fox News has learned. Bobulinski is a retired lieutenant in the U.S. Navy and the CEO of Sinohawk Holdings, which he explained "was a partnership between the Chinese operating through CEFC/Chairman Ye and the Biden family."

He said he was brought on as CEO by Hunter Biden and James Gilliar and on Thursday released emails and text messages that appear to show Joe Biden's involvement with his son's foreign business dealings.

He was slated to deliver a statement to the media before the debate, and planned to say that he is turning his electronic devices over to the FBI.

Military And Intelligence News Briefs -- October 22, 2020

WASHINGTON and PORSTMOUTH, New Hampshire — Two of the Trump administration’s top national security officials have signaled in the last week that the NATO target of spending 2 percent of gross domestic product on defense is now the “gold standard” being applied to all allies around the globe.

While not a hard figure from the administration, the target may catch the attention of allies in the wake of years of comments from President Donald Trump that those nations are not spending enough on defense.

This Russian Frigate Is Armed To The Teeth With Missiles

Reuters

The Marshal Shaposhnikov has already proven to be a capable warship.

The Russian Navy’s Pacific Fleet announced this week that the Cold War-era frigate Marshal Shaposhnikov (BPK 543) was deployed to the Sea of Japan to take part in the second stage of shipbuilder’s sea trails after being rearmed with Kalibr-NK and Uran cruise missiles during its recent upgrade and refit.

“In the morning, the Pacific Fleet’s tugs brought the ship out of the water area of Dalzavod [Shipyard] and escorted it to an outer roadstead where the frigate sailed full ahead,” the press office of the Pacific Fleet told Tass on Monday.

“At sea, the crew together with the delivery team will check the operation of the powerplant, the steering gear and auxiliary mechanisms as well as communications, detection and navigation systems. The ship’s speed and maneuverability tests will also be held,” the press office spokesperson added.

Biden Team Very Confident That They Will Win The Presidency. Are Preparing For A Potentially Bumpy Transition

The administration has been cooperative so far, but President Trump has given mixed messages on whether he would commit to a smooth transfer of power if he loses. WASHINGTON—Senior advisers to Joe Biden are preparing for the possibility that the Trump administration will throw up roadblocks to Mr. Biden’s transition to the presidency if he wins the election, according to people familiar with the internal discussions.

Mr. Biden’s transition team, a low-profile group of policy experts tasked with making sure the former vice president is ready to take office, has crafted alternative plans if President Trump—who has given mixed messages on whether he would commit to a peaceful transfer of power—refuses to comply with requirements that a president-elect’s team be allowed into federal agencies ahead of Inauguration Day. The team is also planning for a scenario in which the Trump administration declines to share resources or provide briefings seen as crucial for a smooth transition of power, the people said.

So far, these worst-case scenarios haven’t come to pass, people close to the Biden campaign and transition said, adding that the former vice president has received classified briefings and lower-level Trump administration officials have been professional in initial interactions with the team. “Transition officials have been planning for various scenarios. So far, the pre-election process has run smoothly,” said a person familiar with Mr. Biden’s transition planning. Asked for comment, a White House official said, “We’re following all statutory requirements.”

WNU Editor: The Biden team is very confident that they are coasting to victory.  I would love to know what their internal polls are showing. They are very positive about everything, and they are not shifting their strategy of minimizing their candidate's public appearances.

Hunter Biden's Ex-Business Partner Confirms Hunter Biden's Emails. Says Joe Biden Was Involved In His Son's Business Deals

Photo: Tony Bobulinski, who describes himself as Hunter Biden's former business partner said in a statement on Wednesday that Joe Biden and his son discussed business dealings with a Chinese energy firm and that the former vice president was in line to receive a cut from a joint venture in 2017. He served four years in the Navy and is now an investment adviser

Tony Bobulinski, listed as one of the recipients of an email detailing an apparent business deal between a Chinese company and Hunter Biden, said that the message is "genuine" and that “the big guy” mentioned is a reference to Hunter’s father, former Vice President and 2020 Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden, whom he claims Hunter Biden asked for business advice.

His statement, obtained by the Washington Examiner, came hours ahead of the final debate between the elder Biden and President Trump, and less than two weeks before Election Day. "The facts set forth below are true and accurate," Bobulinski said.

"They are not any form of domestic or foreign disinformation. Any suggestion to the contrary is false and offensive. I am the recipient of the email published seven days ago by the New York Post which showed a copy to Hunter Biden and Rob Walker. That email is genuine."

U.S. National Security Adviser Says China Is The Threat Of The Century

Trump speaks to reporters with US hostage negotiator Robert O'Brien after he named O'Brien as his fourth White House national security adviser [Tom Brenner/Reuters]

ABOARD HMS QUEEN ELIZABETH (Reuters) - President Donald Trump’s national security adviser accused China on Wednesday of trying to steal COVID-19 vaccine research from the West, casting it as a malign rival that was seeking to monopolise every important industry of the 21st Century.

Trump identifies China as the United States’ main competitor, and has accused the Chinese Communist Party of taking advantage over trade and not telling the truth over the novel coronavirus outbreak, which he calls the “China plague”. In a 20-minute broadside against China, Robert O’Brien told top British and U.S. military and intelligence officials that China was a predatory power that repressed its people and had sought to coerce both neighbours and Western powers.

“The CCP is seeking dominance in all domains and sectors... (and) plans to monopolise every industry that matters to the 21st century,” O’Brien told the Atlantic Future Forum via a video link to Navy aircraft carrier HMS Queen Elizabeth.

WNU Editor: How times have changed. It was only a few years ago that US business and political leaders were rushing to China to build better ties while thinking that they can influence Beijing to follow a cooperative approach to solving the world's problems. Today .... there is a realization that Beijing has a different view on their place in the world, and it does not involve cooperating if it interferes with China's agenda or goals.
