Al-Qaeda Plans Attacks From New Power Base In Yemen

Radical Islamist forces in Yemen are staking their claim to be at the forefront of the assault on western values and democracies.

As the birthplace of Osama Bin Laden’s father and the poorest country in the Arabic world, Yemen has always been a breeding ground for anti-western sentiment. But a few years ago a grouping of hardline Muslim insurgents in Yemen, said to be responsible for the attacks on the USS Cole in 2000 and the kidnap and deaths of western tourists two years earlier, appeared to have burnt itself out after a government crackdown.

My Comment: Why is it that the battle against Al Qaeda looks more like a dam that is springing leaks and we are using bubblegum to block the holes. Stomp them in Afghanistan .... they run to Pakistan. Stomp them in Pakistan .... they run to Yemen. Etc. etc. etc.

I fear this will be the new reality, something akin to what the Israelis are dealing with. You can have an all power (coalition) military, but you'll forever be reacting, instead of decisively acting, when fighting these global Jihadis who will pop-up in places where military power will be constraint or impossible due to political reasons.
