A Tu-95 strategic bomber has crashed during training flight 80km from the city of Khabarovsk, eastern Russia, the Defense Ministry said.

“The flight was being conducted without ammunition. The plane fell in deserted area, there is no destruction on the ground,” says a statement from the ministry. The crew ejected from the aircraft before the crash, it added.

The incident happened near the aviation ground of Litovka, 60km from Khabarovsk, a source told TASS, adding that the suspected cause of the incident is the failure of three power units.

However, according to a TASS source, “Preliminary data shows that a fuel valve collapsed and as a result all four engines failed.”

WNU Editor: I have lost count on how many Russian military aircraft have crashed in the past month. For those in Russia who have been pushing for a modernization of their air fleet .... this only adds to their case.

Military aircraft crash all the time. It is a VERY dangerous job. Those men who do this understand the risk. Now, if true, if the Russian air force really needs upgrading, this may allow us some breathing space to extricate ourselves from Ukraine and all of Eastern Europe while allowing those countries the necessary time and space to develop viable military defense strategies that fit with the unique individual needs of each country involved.

The Russians air force's moral must be at an all time low. They don't even have operational early warning satellite's to detect incoming ICBM's.

But I hear they have the world's best cyber trolls that can cripple any foe with the push of a button.

Phil,

If you had actually read up on this situation, I think you would understand that Russian ground based systems are more than sufficient to provide early warning of any American ICBM launches. As such, this system is simply not a top priority to them.

As to being able to cripple any enemy with the push of a button, this seems unlikely. I do not know of anyone who actually suggested this. With that said these are the best cyber warriors in the world. If we had better relations with them, perhaps we could have headed off China's recent massive cyber attack of us.

I'm glad you got the inside info and did your research. But making excuses for military weakness come on really?
