U.S. President Donald Trump Cancels The North Korea Summit Meeting With Kim Jong-un

Reuters: Trump scraps North Korea summit, warns Kim that military ready

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump on Thursday called off a historic summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un scheduled for next month, citing Pyongyang’s “open hostility,” and warned that the U.S. military was ready in the event of any reckless acts by North Korea.

Trump wrote a letter to Kim to announce his abrupt withdrawal from what would have been a first-ever meeting between a serving U.S. president and a North Korean leader in Singapore on June 12.

“Sadly, based on the tremendous anger and open hostility displayed in your most recent statement, I feel it would be inappropriate, at this time, to have this long-planned meeting,” Trump wrote. “Please let this letter serve to represent that the Singapore summit, for the good of both parties, but to the detriment of the world, will not take place.”

Did the world stage really believe this would actually happen? There was no way China would allow this to happen...same goes for the "destruction" of the nuke facility. It's a likely distraction while they build or finalize the new one...

...come on...seriously???

No, no one is surprised at the latest Trump failure. What he has managed to do is push S. Korea further away, strengthen China and N. Korea, show the U.S. to be an unreliable ally and a bargainer of bad faith. And I really wanted one of those medals too. Damn. I guess the Nobel Peace Prize will have to wait a little longer.

@Jason: You can't blame Trump for this one...it was never going to happen...

@WNU editor,

Do you think this was the right call by President Trump?
Would’ve postponing the meeting been a better option?

@Anonymous: Yep you are right. The commemorative coins are on sale still but now marked down to 19.95 from 24.95. But alas, the WH gift shop server has crashed. :( Really want one of those to help me remember these exciting times we find ourselves in.
