Jair Bolsonaro Wins Brazil Vote But Not With An Outright Victory

Far-right candidate Jair Bolsonaro has likely fallen short of the 50 percent threshold needed to avoid a run-off vote. Fernando Haddad, the stand-in for jailed former President Luiz Inacio da Silva, is trailing behind.

Far-right candidate Jair Bolsonaro is set to face leftist Fernando Haddad in the second round of Brazil's presidential election, according to official results.

With 88 percent of votes counted so far, Bolsonaro had 47.4 percent of votes, while Fernando Haddad from the Workers' Party was in second place with 27.6 percent.

Another left-wing candidate, Ciro Gomes, was in third place with about 12 per cent.

WNU Editor: The run-off election will be on October 28. With 47% of the vote, it is going to be very difficult for the other parties to defeat Jair Bolsonaro .

Unless he has really good policies and is not on the take, I do not think Brasil will make it.

This will be good for the US in a sordid sort of way. It will make the US one of the last crap (in debt) countries and so a winner.

It would be worse if the Leftists had won. Brasil would implode sooner, but I do not think things will work.
