Are There Enough Votes In The U.S. Congress To Impeace President Trump AND In The U.S. Senate To Convict Him?

NPR: More Democrats Call For Impeachment Proceedings Against President Trump

A growing number of Democrats running for President in 2020 say the House of Representatives should begin impeachment proceedings against President Trump.

The latest is Massachusetts Congressman Seth Moulton, who declared his candidacy Tuesday, and in an interview on NPR's Morning Edition, said "we absolutely should be having this debate."

Moulton said he was ready to begin impeachment proceedings last year. "Don't tell me there's not enough to debate impeaching the President," Moulton said, accusing Trump of obstructing justice, violating campaign finance laws and profiting from office, in violation of the constitution's emoluments clause.

"He is subject to the same laws as the rest of us are and that's why we should move forward with this debate."

WNU Editor: For impeachment in the House of Representatives and a conviction in the U.S. Senate to succeed, a majority of Republicans must go along. I have no doubts that a majority of Democrats will vote to impeach the President, regardless of the charges that are levied. They are hungry to do it, and their progressive base is aggressively pushing for it. The real question is what will the Republicans do. I personally believe that unlike the Republican base that are overwhelmingly supportive of the President, the Republican establishment and many of its elected members will support convicting the President. This commentary from a "Republican insider" probably sums up what many of them are thinking .... The Mueller Report Was My Tipping Point (The Atlantic). But will they do it in a public forum where their vote is known .... no. The blow-back from the Republican base will be massive and unforgiving. But if it is a secret vote ....  I predict that it will be close.  Interestingly .... a voice vote can be done in the Senate on convicting a President. So how do you determine if a voice vote is over two-thirds of the vote?

The GOP will cease to exist if they vote Trump out. The people who voted for Trump see Muellers report differently. They see a President who had 40 highly partisan prosecutors with unlimited staff, money, time and political protection investigate Trump for 2 years looking for any crime at all by him or his family. They found nothing at all. Makes Trump the cleanest President, the most legally vetted President since perhaps Harry Truman.

GOP dies immediately upon such a betrayal and Mitch McConnell knows it. Besides not all Dems will go along. Those is Trump states can't be counted as Yes.

Nancy is leaving it out there to try to drive numbers down.

She is hooping to drive numbers down without suffering blowback.

If she went ahead, it will just rile up both bases with the Democrats perhaps losing. So she just leaves it out there for a drip, drip, drip effect.

There is nothing there, but the Democrats are going with the big lie strategy, which Goebbels championed.

Nanct might wait until a year from now in order to try to make a crippling strike. I suggest that if sdhe does, trump declassifies stuff and show the Democrats for the conniving SOBs that they are.

Declassifiy the FISA apps (all 4), declassifiy other stuff. Make the Demcorats squaeal like stuck pigs.

Won't be hard. Just make them squeal. They will sound like pigs, because they are pigs.

No way do the Republicans vote to impeach - would be a death sentence for them and the country.

The impeach talk is just to distract us from what happened. We must not allow it.

What happened:

Hillary Clinton tried to paint another American (DJT) as traitor. She was OK with him potentially receiving the death penalty (which can happen in treason cases). Think of that. Think of what it means in terms of her "leadership" potential (almost threw up in my mouth a little just having the word leadership in the same sentence as Clinton).

I used to think Bill Clinton is bad, but man.. Hillary is like a demonic robot, fed with stupid platitudes and freakish automaton laughter. It is so off-putting what she is, what she stands for. Can't wait to see her become insignificant. No one is showing up to her talking tours. She can't also squeeze millions out of foreign governments for her "charity".. so sick of her. Hope she goes away and quickly. Or prison. Ideally prison. Please investigate her for real this time.

If it is a voice vote and they turn ther cameras off, then you go liberla on McConnell.

You give him bad service in restaurant.

You form mobs and scream at him until he flees and his trophy wife defends the pussy. OWS and other have gone to people's houses and the authorities did jack. Congress did jack.

If he has business interests, you cease doing business with him until he has a fire sale.

I do not think Trump was electable being an outsider and the polticians fake decorum, fake gravitas, and fake dignitas.

I voted for someone else in the primaries. however when ttump had his border polcies, etc , there was no way I was going to sit out or vote Hillary.

The election was Jeb Bush's to lose and he lost it.

Half (50%) of Republicans (the base) would vote for amnesty. Added to the Democrats thatwould be a majority. But they been lied to before. There has been amnesy and no wall. They are through with the rinse and repeat. They are through with leavng the barn door open for another round.

By going for amnesty without a wall, or e-verify being mandatory and everyhting else, the poltical class are twelling voters they do not care about voting or the Republic. They do not care about the voters.

Jeb Bush lost to Trump, because Jeb Bush was a effing pussy. He is a WIMP. There is no nice way to put it.

When you see what polticans donow verus what they shouold do, the Roman Empire and its problems make much more sense.

And article from Saloon.com.

Wow, such evidence!

Wisconsin? Really?

The Democrats poured so much money in that state and could not unseat the Republican governor with 4 tries and shooting their wad.

2010
2012
2014
2018

There is no reason that Walker should have ran again except that Democrats were angry that they failed to cheat their way into the governors' mansion.

Robert Creamer who spent visit after visit tio the Obama White House failed to stuff enough ballot boxes

The democrats failed to find uncounted ballots in the trunk of a car like they did in Minnesota (Al Franken) or in Florida recently.

Robert Creamer should be in jail sitting next to Anon 6:33.
