President Trump Explains Why He Decided To Not Launch A Military Strike Against Iran

ABC News: Trump says he stopped Iran strike with just 10 minutes to spare because he was concerned about casualties

President Donald Trump on Friday reacted on Twitter to reports that he ordered a military strike on Iran for shooting down an American drone, but then reversed his decision after the plan was underway, saying he called off the attack with just 10 minutes to spare because he was concerned about potential casualties.

In a series of tweets he said, "We were cocked & loaded to retaliate last night on 3 different sights when I asked, how many will die. 150 people, sir, was the answer from a General. 10 minutes before the strike I stopped it, not.... proportionate to shooting down an unmanned drone. I am in no hurry, our Military is rebuilt, new, and ready to go, by far the best in the world. Sanctions are biting & more added last night. Iran can NEVER have Nuclear Weapons, not against the USA, and not against the WORLD!"

WNU Editor: From what I have read so far .... almost everyone within the administration (and many outside) were pushing for a military strike. The only ones who advised against it were the Generals and senior officials from the Pentagon. Are hundreds of casualties (and many more) justifiable for the downing of a robot drone? President Trump made the decision that it was not .... and in my opinion it was the right one. If this attack was launched, we would definitely be experiencing a very different news day today. But the crisis is still on going, and who knows what Iran may do next.

Update: If this story is true and this U.S. plane was shot down, we would be at war right now .... Iran says it refrained from shooting down U.S. plane with 35 on board - Tasnim news (Jerusalem Post).

Ten thousand authenticated lies by Trump thus far and so, alas,I am hardly about to believe what he says now or ever

Maybe that's the point...

Consider Fred, what you were most likely expecting and what DJT gave you. Surprise!
Frankly, there's more to Trump than the left wants to admit in my opinion. Such insights take time to evolve, of course, and some will never experience these insights. They're too pre-occupied with their shallow image of Trump and I doubt more than a few are principled enough to acknowledge so.

Go lefties and tooth fairy mindsets. Flock together tightly and block ears and eyes from the real world. Run play in the sandbox with the 8 year flop, initials B. O.

Well played; I agree with the recall. It will help later when, after being restrained, we strike and Russia and China will just have to shut up. 130M is a lot but I always like to be on the clear side of right before we do anything. MAGA!!

If Iran shoots down a US aircraft war is the result. No if's and's or but's. I would take out their oil fields first.

US response of 'no response' is definitely a first when it comes to something like this that usually demands a response. Which is very surprising.

A measured response while also sending a message to Iran that they cannot shoot down a US Drone in international waters without consequences.

What consequences? Apparently none.

Others like the WNU Editor praise the decision to not launch a strike.

So what happens now when/if another drone is shot down?
