Democrats Now Expect President Trump's Impeachment Inquiry Will Take Longer Than Expected

CNN: Democrats see impeachment proceedings taking longer than some initially expected

House Democrats are facing a time crunch to quickly wrap up their investigation into allegations President Donald Trump abused his office in pushing Ukraine to probe his political rivals, prompting growing expectations that votes on impeaching Trump could slip closer to the end of the year.

Some Democrats had hoped that a narrow probe -- focused on whether Trump put on ice efforts to bolster relations with Ukraine and provide US military aid to the country until it carried through with a political favor -- could conclude swiftly, with a potential vote to impeach Trump by Thanksgiving.

But that has proven to be more complicated than it initially seemed, according to multiple Democratic lawmakers and sources. The reason: Each witness has so far provided more leads for investigators to chase down, including new names to potentially interview or seek documents from. Plus, Democrats have had to reschedule several witnesses, including some this week in part because of memorial services for the late Rep. Elijah Cummings, and others because they needed more time to retain lawyers.

WNU Editor: This impeachment inquiry has nothing. And I suspect that the main reason why this inquiry is being delayed is because the witnesses are corroborating what President trump is saying. They fell right into McConnell's trap. By him simply saying he wants a vote by Thanksgiving, the Dems predictably and reflexively decide to prolong the process.

They can take their sweet time and annoy the American electorate to their heart's content. The Senate will boot this absurd so-called "impeachment" out of their chambers as soon as it gets there. If it ever does.

They're probably - right now - conniving to take this political slime-fest right up to the 2020 election. (because their Wiley Coyote level geniuses)

since you are hardloy privy to what is taking place behind closed doors you do not know what the Congress has and has not, and yet you maintain they have nothing...based on what?

Mitch can not and should not, tell the House when he wants them to do something and give them a deadline...

Pelosi and McConnell have barely spoken recently about funding the government, according to multiple people familiar with their interactions. Instead, the No. 2 House Democrat, Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, called McConnell on Monday to talk spending bills.

“McConnell wants to get these bills done, and that's fine. I want to get the bills done,” Hoyer told reporters Tuesday. “There’s no reason whatsoever from a process standpoint that we can’t do the appropriations process by” the next deadline.

Mitch McConnell concedes: Republicans have no credible defense for Trump's Ukraine shakedown. Just distractions.

And Fred Lapid or someone pretending to be him lied again on the headline.
