Is 'Communist' China More Weaker Today than Ever Before?

Marion Smith, NRO: After 70 Years, Communist China Is Weaker Than It Appears

The Communist ideology is a parasite that cannot survive for long on its own.

The Soviet Union collapsed in 1991 after 69 years of tyranny and aggression. On October 1, the People’s Republic of China will officially turn 70. The brutal regime of Mao Zedong and Xi Jinping has made China the world’s longest surviving Communist country, and unlike the Kremlin of old, Beijing seems stronger than ever.

The contrast between China today and the Soviet Union at its death could hardly be more stark. In the early 1990s, Russia’s military was swiftly losing ground to American investment and innovation, forcing a global retreat of influence and power. Today, the People’s Liberation Army is quickly closing the gap with the U.S. armed forces and is projecting its newfound power from the Arctic to Africa to Australasia.

Communist China is also sprinting economically. It overtook Japan as the world’s second-largest economy in 2011, and its GDP has nearly tripled since then. Many forecasters say it’s a matter of when, not if, China overtakes the U.S. By comparison, the Soviet Union struggled to keep its economy even half as large as America’s.

WNU Editor: The decline in GDP growth expectations have surprised many of my friends who live and work in China. This was not suppose to happen. And now there is a real fear in China that as the U.S. continues to decouple from China, China's economic growth will only decline further. As for the Central government, they are still in denial of the situation, reassuring everyone that they now lead the world .... Chinese President Xi: China Leads The World.

Update: More threats from China directed at the U.S. .... China state media warn US investment curbs will have ‘significant repercussions’ (CNBC). More here .... China says 'decoupling' from US would harm both sides (RTE).

You can balance the books by going to war. People have done it before. Some succeeded some did not.

I read where Germany would have gone broke by the early to mid 1940s due to its arms build up. It had to downsize its military around 1939 or 1940 and it still might have gone broke. Of course a broke Germany would have voted out Hitler.

So I have some trepidation.

"During the 1930s, Nazi Germany increased its military spending faster than any other state in peacetime,[6] and the military eventually came to represent the majority of the German economy in the 1940s.[7] This was funded mainly through deficit financing before the war, and the Nazis expected to cover their debt by plundering the wealth of conquered nations during and after the war.[8] Such plunder did occur, but its results fell far short of Nazi expectations." -Wiki

There are so many parallels to Nazi Germany, it's scary. I agree with above anon..here's my take

Like Nazi Germany before WW2, China has

1. Grown their military at alarming rate

2. Bullied their neighbours and threatened several with war and annexation. Vietnam, India, Taiwan

3. Accused other countries of economic warfare

4. Imprisoned / put unwanted groups into concentration camps. There are currently at least 1 million (!) Unwanted in concentration camps in China right now and there are videos of mass executions circulating

5. Blame everything, like economic decline or not having their rightful place (rulers of earth) on other people. Germans blamed the Jews. Chinese blame Japan and the West for keeping them down

6. Believe their race is superior. China is a 100% ethno Chinese controlled state. The military and government is 100% ethno Chinese and they talk about other races like you wouldn't believe

7. Had invested a lot in propaganda and tightening of communications/surveillance before the war. Nazi Germany did this with a propaganda department and Gestapo. China does it with their great Chinese fire wall, and an internal obedience system (the famous social scoring system so no one speaks out over there or you not only lose your job but you will never get one again and maybe your entire family too,it's super scary. .like Gestapo on steroids with unlimited access)

8. Banishing of books. See what happened in Hong Kong with the abducted and tortured book sellers who committed the high crime of having party critical books.

9. Swearing in of the army to the leader directly. This is one of the most troubling signs. hitler did the same. All while crushing religion (same in China ..churches torn down, Christians and Muslims harassed and imprisoned)

The list goes on. .but take the Chinese threat very very very seriously. It has all the hallmarks of a major war.. thru believe their time has come and now -again - the rest of the world keeps them down. not all think like that obviously but enough do. Especially in the ruling party.
