Merrill Matthews, The Hill: Trump impeachment efforts will haunt the next Democrat in the White House
Not long ago, the U.S. entered the never-ending presidential election campaign, in which the next campaign begins the morning after Election Day. Americans have been groaning about the non-stop election cycle ever since.
Well, it appears we’ve entered the never-ending presidential impeachment campaign, as well.
President Trump’s alleged quid-pro-quo offer to the Ukrainian president spurred the latest push for impeachment. This was the first time Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) greenlighted an impeachment inquiry. This time, there was enough support among Democrats in the House, where an impeachment action must be initiated.

WNU editor: I completely concur with the above analysis. When you change tradition and precedent it will come back to haunt you. When US Senator Harry Reid and Senate Democrats voted in 2013 to eliminate the filibuster for judicial nominees, excluding the Supreme Court, many people warned they would come to regret that move .... and it has happened. In just 3 years President Trump has not only appointed two Supreme Court justices, but he has also appointed over 150 judges in the lower courts. The same can be said about impeachment. When you criminalize political differences, the procedures and tactics that you used will be used against you. So why do it? So why is House Speaker Pelosi so determined to proceed with impeachment? The same question was asked to US Senator Reid when he changed the filibuster rule, and he responded that as far as he was concerned, he did not care what his opponents were saying. I guess he felt that the Republicans would not have the courage to do what he was doing, and if they did, the media would condemn them. He was wrong, and it has proven to be a very costly political mistake for the Democrats. The same will happen with these impeachment efforts.

Change tradition like Trump not revealing his taxes as every other modern President has, or not honoring the Constitutional requirement and law to treat Congress as a coequal branch of government and respond tot heir requests? He needs to go!
It could get a lot worse. Not punishing/eliminating Trump gives Trump and future Trumps encouragement to rape and pillage to his/their heart's content. The country needs some safety valves and a revision of the Constitution might also be in order.
