Donald Trump has denied John Bolton's claim that he backed China's Uighur Muslim detention camps in trade talks with President Xi Jinping.

Asked in an interview with Axios on Sunday whether the account was true, the president said: 'No, not at all.'

'We were in the middle of a major trade deal,' Trump said. 'And I made a great deal, $250 billion potentially worth of purchases.'
