Growing Worries In Washington On The Possibility Of An Armenia - Azerbaijan War

Matthew Petti, National Review: Armenia and Azerbaijan Are On the Brink of War—And Washington Is Worried

The State Department is neutral, but Senator Ed Markey (D-Mass.) is backing Armenia.

U.S. policymakers are warning Armenia and Azerbaijan to stand down after fourteen people died in a deadly border clash between the two post-Soviet republics.

Armenia and Azerbaijan have been at odds over the territory of Nagorno-Karabakh since both countries obtained independence from the Soviet Union in the early 1990s. The two sides agreed to a ceasefire in 1994 but have been unable to come to a permanent peace agreement in international talks.

This week’s events have threatened to unravel the peace process, as the deadliest clashes in years erupted along the tense border. The fighting began on Sunday and has killed at least sixteen people as of Tuesday afternoon, including an Azerbaijani major-general.

“The United States condemns in the strongest terms the violence along the Armenia-Azerbaijan international border,” State Department spokeswoman Morgan Ortagus wrote in a Monday statement. “We urge the sides to stop using force immediately, use the existing direct communication links between them to avoid further escalation, and strictly adhere to the ceasefire.”

Washington Worries.

Fuck Washington.

These are the people that will not go against Russia, China, or Iran. They will talk a good game, but when push comes to shove they do not do much. Where much of the action happens in shadow wars, they fuck over the CIA and ream the CIA in the ass.

Maybe that is why the CIA is relegated to spying on Americans. It is much safer than Iran Contra. Can you really blame Brennan for spying on the weaker of the American parties instead of going after a narco state like Venezuela? For that matter what has the CIA done about the Sunni triangle in South America. Shutting that down would get rid if support apparatus for terrorists and remove funding.

If Washington was in Armenia and Azerbaijan would they stand up to Russia? I think not. So why get involved?

It is worse than Afghanistan. How are those mangy, if rich, fuckers going to get overflight from Turkey Iran or Russia? How are they going to supply anyone?

Maybe Foggy Bottoms can send Madeleine Albright with a basketball. That'll work.
