Was President Trump The One Force That Kept The Democratic Party Together?

Christopher Caldwell, The New Republic: The Biden Popular Front Is Doomed to Unravel

It may turn out that Donald Trump was the one force keeping the Democratic Party together.

It’s lucky that votes usually don’t get counted till late at night. Victorious presidential candidates have two audiences to speak to. Their zealous volunteers generally get little reward other than the sense, inculcated over months of battle, that they are fighting to vanquish the forces of evil. On election night, they expect someone to extol their bravery and ruthlessness, and to hold aloft the head of the vanquished foe. It’s preferable if this can be done while the rest of the country is either sleeping or weepily watching its own candidate concede. When, days later, the president-elect pivots to flatter the whole country and extend an olive branch to his rivals, his loyal followers can feel jilted.

WNU Editor: My must read post for today.

IMHO the Democrats are on course to fracture. There are too many conflicting interests, and expectations are high from each group that their concerns will be prioritized. I do not see that happening, and definitely not under Joe Biden. And with Trump gone, who will they focus their animosity now?

A long time reader of this blog told me last week that in this election 30% of the Democrat electoral base made a decision to give the Democrats one more chance to govern. A last hurrah for a party that they have supported for decades but is now ideologically shifting away from them. I thought about that for a few days, and I then asked some of my Democrat friends. They agreed. They wanted Trump gone, but their vote came with a condition. That if the Biden-Harris administration fails .... primarily on the economy .... it would be the straw that broke the camel's back, and they would then desert the party or sit out in future elections.

I am not sure about that 30% percentage. But I do sense that sentiment growing among some of my Democrat friends who voted for Biden in this election and who are now wondering on what will happen next. My guess is that we will know the answers to all of these questions when the midterms arrive in 2022, and the next Presidential election in 2024.

first you tell us you think Trump will win
then you tell us the polls wrong
then you tell us the fraud will reveal Trump wins
now you tell us the Democratic party falling apart
note: if Trump kept the party together for the Dems, who kept it together for the GOP?
further note: the new president has not even taken office as yet and you are darting to 4 years from now to announce a disaster for the winning party

Odd that you turn to a far left outfit as a must read

How do your friends feel about the level of fraud?

"Mexico’s President Still Refuses To Recognize Biden's Presidential Win'

I would have to bet that the rationalize it as it happens ever election, this time it may have been a teensy weensy bit bigger.

Things are not going to get better.

"Not Only Aren't Republicans Reversing the 2020 Disaster, It's Already Being Repeated"

I don't think much of Brad Raffensperger and other useful idiots like Romney.

It is going to get a lot worse. I can sit this Oktober Revolution out in Europe or China. I'm not sure about the rest of you.

Maybe Amerika does an Anschluss with some of the other 5 Eyes. Not so much fun to watch then.

Boon Docks = FRL troll

Although the TNR is wingnut rag it can be right occasionally. WNU uses different media so as not to be censored and not to live in an echo chamber. The infighting in the Democrat Party is apparent to all in the media on the left or right. AOC is quite shrill.

Fun isn't it, you should know. You're not as clever as you think and the internet never forgets.

I find it fascinating on what is happening in the Democrat Party right now.

The people who worked hard for Biden to win are now being shuffled aside for those who I call the Washington establishment.

And for the others who supported and gave their all to make sure Biden wins. A lot of promises have been made. We shall see if they are delivered

Watch the news. Many Democrats feel shut out from and are unhappy. Look at the Democrats in Congress and how they are reacting to their election losses.

The polls were wrong. The classic one being the Wisconsin poll that said Biden was going to win by 17%

I never said fraud was going to help Trump win. All I have done is link to posts where concerns on how the vote was carried have raised a lot of concerns and red flags. Starting with the kicking out of Republican observers in Philadelphia and Fulton county Georgia. But I have also said that it is too late to change the count. The ballots and where they came from cannot now be verified.

I am not darting out 4 years from now to say the Democrat Party is heading to disaster. I am saying we have to wait and see. It is the New Republic that is expressing its concerns that the Democrat Party is heading for disaster in 4 years.

I did predict a slight Trump victory. Looking at the recent count. If 45,000 votes swung from Biden to Trump in Arizona, Georgia, and Wisconsin, we will be having a different discussion right now.
