Rebecca Grant, FOX News: Battle for Afghanistan – Taliban could be defeated by this brutal strategy
Don’t forget these two big factors -- warlords and airpower
Twenty years of fighting, 2,352 American deaths and it comes down to this: can Afghanistan’s government forces pull back and hold on until the Taliban over-extends its military push?
The battle isn’t looking good. Taliban offensives have taken 12 of Afghanistan’s 34 provincial capitals since last week. WNU Editor: 2021 is not 2001. There is no political will in the White House to return to Afghanistan in force, and most of the warlords in Afghanistan have already been routed by the Taliban in the past month. China and Russia are watching us. The weakness of our President cannot escape them and it would be surprising if they did not take advantage of it.
There were airstrikes, but there was an anvil in many cases. The forcing holding the enemy does not have to be strong., All the have to do is hold or fix the enemy in place just long enough. POOR barring that act as FOs.
Also Osama escaped in part, because they pulled US forces back to let Afghan forces "take the glory" What if Osama had died then? Would the Taliban have reformed? You could argue they would, because the ISI would have wished it.
