An unidentified high-altitude, long-endurance airship spotted near a former US naval base in the Philippines has raised concerns that some countries in the region are using stratospheric airships to collect military intelligence.
Images of the stratospheric airship - allegedly taken in Pangasinan province, about 100km (62 miles) from Subic Bay in the northern Philippine island of Luzon - were first posted on Facebook last weekend. The pictures were deleted, but not before they were also shared on Twitter.

The Taiwanese straight is governed by UN and well established maritime international.
The Chinese airship is nowhere near Chinese territory and it could be in Phillipine airspace. I don't knw that the Spratlies are Chinese. Sure they found Chinese pottery on them. I also know that the Ming turned their back on the sea and the Qin? I don't think the Qin were there. Chinese civilians might have visited there. Finding pottery could mean a lot of things. For instance, it could have been trade good traded to Filipinos and Filipino fishermen visited those islands
I think China has a stronger claim to the Paracels Vietnam's claim is based on the French colonial claim. Do the Vietnamese want to base their claim as a result of colonialism?
IMO while having the stronger claim the Chinese should cut the Vietnamese in for something like 1/3rd of the action and make them an ally, It would protect their southern flank. The Chinese might look to the better history of Keivan Russia for an example instead of pushing around the Vietnamese.
