Former U.S. Acting Director of National Intelligence Richard Grenell Unloads On The Deep State “Swamp” In Washington, D.C.

BPR: Grenell describes being an outsider in DC Swamp, eviscerates Dem leakers and their media minions

Former acting Director of National Intelligence Richard Grenell ripped the deep state “swamp” in Washington, D.C., along with Democratic politicians who leak classified information and the Left-leaning news outlet Political in a lengthy Wednesday interview with talk radio giant Mark Levin.

The career diplomat and civil servant who recently stepped down from his post as U.S. ambassador to Germany noted that he was a “consumer of intelligence since 2001,” though Democrats criticized his temporary appointment as head of the U.S. intelligence community.

Grenell also suggested that his presence in the ODNI was unsettling to the entrenched intelligence bureaucracy.

Some Believe That America's 'Deep State' Is In Deep Trouble

Roger Simon, PJ Media: The Deep State Is in Deep Trouble

Why would some "concerned citizen" suddenly leak information to ABC that Jeff Sessions was under investigation for perjuring himself (about Russia, of course) during his confirmation hearing now almost a year behind us?

Could it have something to do with the fact that the man who instigated that investigation was none other than Andrew McCabe, only recently fired by Sessions? Was someone or some group -- the ABC report specifies "sources" with an "s" -- trying to make the attorney general's act seem one of revenge, and thus illegitimate?

No doubt. But the problem is that Sessions was long ago exonerated of this charge by none other than Robert Mueller.

WNU editor: Roger Simon is using an anonymous Internet character with the moniker @NameRedacted7 as proof that those who run Washington are in deep trouble. I personally hate anonymous sources .... but I will admit that whoever @NameRedacted7 is, his (or hers) recent thread that sumamrizes what is happening in Washingon is an interesting read .... Unrolled thread from @NameRedacted7. And while I do not know if this thread is accurate, I do know that many are now openly questioning many of the assessments and conclusions that the U.S. intelligence community have made in the past year and a half .... House Intel Republicans think there's something wrong with Trump-Russia intelligence community assessment (Byron York), and that the groundwork is probably being laid for an independent investigation on the justice and intelligence community at a later date. Case in point .... I think everyone is now worried on what the Justice Department's Inspector General is doing .... Bombshell reveal: A grand jury already is hearing evidence on DOJ and FBI scandals (Thomas Lifson, American Thinker). And unlike the Mueller Counsel that is focused on finding evidence of collusion/crimes/etc, the firing of the FBI Deputy Director gave all of us a heads-up that Inspector General already has a lot of evidence that he can use .... and he is using it.

Update: Why am I now surprised that former MI6 agent Christopher Steele is expected to confirm he did nothing to confirm some of the allegations in his Russian dossier .... UK court documents reveal details about Christopher Steele's dossier deposition (FOX News).

Poll: 60 Percent Believe U.S. National Policy Is Being Driven By The 'Deep State'

Politico: Poll: Majority believe 'deep state' manipulates U.S. policies

The majority of the country believes a group of unelected government and military officials secretly manipulate national policy, according to a Monmouth Poll released Monday.

Of the 803 adults polled, 27 percent said they believe the unelected group known as the deep state definitely exists. An additional 47 percent said it probably exists. Sixteen percent said it probably does not exist and 5 percent said they believe it definitely does not exist.

In the past, President Donald Trump has railed against the deep state. Earlier this year, he tweeted that the Justice Department is part of it, posting: "Crooked Hillary Clinton’s top aid, [sic] Huma Abedin, has been accused of disregarding basic security protocols. She put Classified Passwords into the hands of foreign agents. Remember sailors pictures on submarine? Jail! Deep State Justice Dept must finally act? Also on Comey & others."

Does The 'Deep State' Exist?

CNN: Spicer doesn't reject concept of 'Deep State'

Washington (CNN)Asked whether a "deep state" of entrenched government employees exists, White House press secretary Sean Spicer said Friday that some federal employees were working to advance the previous administration's agenda.

"I think that there's no question when you have eight years of one party in office, there are people who stay in government -- and continue to espouse the agenda of the previous administration," Spicer said.
What's a 'Deep State'

"So I don't think it should come as any surprise there are people that burrowed into government during eight years of the last administration and may have believed in that agenda and may continue to seek it," he went on. "I don't think that should come as a surprise."

WNU editor: It was the Intercept reporter Glenn Greenwald .... the journalist who posted NSA leaker Edward Snowden's NSA files .... who first coined the term "Deep State". All new governments when they come to power are always faced with a bureaucracy that may not be sympathetic to them. But with time these opponents are usually either fired or transferred elsewhere. I expect the same to happen with the Trump administration.
