ABC News: 52% of Americans support deploying military to control violent protests: POLL

The question about summoning the military only asked about violent protests.

A slight majority of Americans support deploying the U.S. military to intervene where there are violent protests, according to a new ABC News/Ipsos poll released Sunday.

In the new survey, which was conducted by Ipsos in partnership with ABC News using Ipsos’ Knowledge Panel, 52% approve of the move, compared to 47% who disapprove.

The question put before respondents about summoning the military only asked about violent demonstrations, and not peaceful protests.

WNU Editor: I went to Ipsos to see what methodology did they use to make this poll (go here). It was not helpful. But ABC did admit the following .... national sample of 706 adults, with oversamples of black and Hispanic respondents. Not only is the sample ridiculously small, but there is an admission that they over-sampled Blacks and Hispanics!!!! No mention on how large of an over-sample was used. But it does not stop there. The question itself is vague. For example. I would think the right question to be asked is .... do you support deploying the U.S. military to intervene where there are violent protests and the police are ineffective? I am sure that would poll far greater than 52%. But did the poll used the more generic question .... do you support deploying the U.S. military to intervene where there are violent protests? Again. ABC News is not clear. As to what is my opinion. I would say NO to using the military if there is a violent protest and the police are there to stop it (and can). But I would say yes if the police are completely ineffective and the riots have gotten completely out of control for the police to stop it.

We appreciate your analysis showing the bias of these polls, Mr. Editor. Dishonesty is rampant in the news media and related businesses in the USA, & Canada too, I would imagine.

If a bad poll, why post it?

It's a poll "2016" like. We shall see the truth in November.

The stores in some cities used guards with long guns, they weren't looted. No surprise.
