Has Mossad Penetrated Iran's Revolutionary Guards?

Mossad is suspected of being behind the killing of Iran's top nuclear scientist Mohsen Fakhrizadeh

BBC: Israel's Mossad suspected of high-level Iran penetration

In November 2020, a convoy carrying Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, Iran's most prominent nuclear scientist, came under fire. He was killed with an artificial intelligence-assisted remote control machine gun.

Carrying out an assassination in such a surgical fashion against a moving target without any civilian casualties requires real-time intelligence on the ground.

After the killing, Iran's intelligence minister, Mahmoud Alavi, claimed that two months earlier, he had warned security forces that there was an assassination plot targeting Mr Fakhrizadeh at the exact location where he was shot.

Mr Alavi said the person who planned the killing was "a member of the armed forces. We couldn't carry out intelligence operations on the armed forces".

But he indirectly implied the perpetrator was a member of the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC), Iran's most elite military unit. If so, the agent would have to have been high up enough in the IRGC to have been able to brush off the warning and carry out the plan at the set date, time and location.

Mohsen Fakhrizadeh is also known to have been a member of the IRGC.

Times Of Israel: Mossad head vows no Iran nukes ‘ever,’ as credibility of military option scrutinized

David Barnea says agency will ‘do everything needed to alleviate threat,’ but air force head won’t say if Israel can destroy Iran’s program and report claims IDF has no strike plan

The head of the Mossad spy agency said Thursday that a bad nuclear deal between world powers and Iran would be “intolerable” for Israel, vowing that the Islamic Republic will never acquire nuclear weapons.

“It’s clear that there’s no need for uranium enriched to 60 percent for civilian purposes,” David Barnea said during a ceremony at the President’s Residence to honor exceptional Mossad agents.

“There’s no need for three enrichment sites. There’s no need for thousands of active centrifuges — unless, that is, there is an intention to develop nuclear weapons.”

Little Is Known About Mossad's New Boss

David Barnea Spy Talk: Mossad’s New Boss is a Gadget-Loving Killing Machine

David Barnea warned Iran the “long arm of Mossad” isn’t finished with it.

David Barnea is going to walk softly and carry a big stick—or so he’s been saying to Mossad’s workforce and alumni.

The new head of Israel’s storied foreign intelligence agency recently sent a stern directive to its former senior intelligence officials: Keep your mouths shut until I say you can open them.

According to Yossi Melman, a veteran intelligence reporter for the independent Israeli daily Haaretz, Barnea warned former senior Mossad officials that he would punish anyone who speaks to the media, either on or off the record, about current or past Israeli spy operations without his prior permission.

“Which he probably won’t grant,” Melman told SpyTalk.

Ex-Mossad Chief Appears To Admit That Israel Is Behind Iran Nuclear Attacks

The comments by Yossi Cohen, speaking to Israel's Channel 12 investigative program 'Uvda' in a segment aired Thursday night, offered an extraordinary debriefing by the head of the typically secretive agency in what appears to be the final days of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's rule

Daily Mail: 'If a man endangers Israel, he must stop existing': Mossad chief appears to admit Israeli assassinations and blowing up Iranian nuclear plant in extraordinary TV interview

* Yossi Cohen warned that Israel would assassinate those who 'constitutes a capability that endangers the citizens of Israel

* He gave a clear warning to scientists in Iran's nuclear program that they could become targets for assassination

* Cohen offered the closes acknowledgement yet his country was behind attacks targeting Iran's nuclear program and military scientist Mohsen Fakhrizadeh

The outgoing chief of Israel's Mossad intelligence service has offered the closest acknowledgment yet his country was behind recent attacks targeting Iran's nuclear program and a military scientist.

The comments by Yossi Cohen, speaking to Israel's Channel 12 investigative program 'Uvda' in a segment aired Thursday night, offered an extraordinary debriefing by the head of the typically secretive agency in what appears to be the final days of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's rule.

It also gave a clear warning to other scientists in Iran's nuclear program that they too could become targets for assassination even as diplomats in Vienna try to negotiate terms to try to salvage its atomic accord with world powers.

Jerusalem Post: New Mossad chief hints at more assassinations, attacks against Iran

Israel would not be passive simply because the majority of the world was willing to look the other way on Iran’s nuclear program.

Incoming Mossad director David Barnea on Tuesday gave a threatening speech against Iran, alluding to potential future assassinations of its nuclear scientists and attacks on its nuclear facilities.

"The Iranian [nuclear] program will continue to be met with the full power of the long arm of the Mossad," Barnea said.

"We are very familiar with the different components of the nuclear program and we are very familiar personally with the officials involved in it and also with the officials who direct them.”

Though most of Barnea’s statements below were distributed to The Jerusalem Post and other outlets by the Prime Minister’s Office, the above veiled threat was reported by Yediot Aharonot.

Israel Has A New Mossad Spy Chief

DW: Israel picks new Mossad spy agency chief

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced the top appointment. But little is known about the mysteriously-named "D" who will head-up the secretive intelligence agency.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Tuesday chose the next director of the Mossad spy agency, known only as "D" to replace Yossi Cohen.

"D" is the former deputy director of Mossad, the unit responsible for intelligence collection, covert operations and counter-terrorism in Israel.

"D" had served in the role for two years.

Israel does not customarily disclose the names of top Mossad personnel for security reasons. But Cohen is widely seen as having a more prominent public profile than many past chiefs of the foreign intelligence service.

A Look At How Mossad Perfected The Art Of Assassination

Nobody in intelligence circles harbours any doubt that Mossad was responsible for the assassination just over a week ago of Mohsen Fakhrizadeh (pictured), the mastermind of Iran’s secret nuclear weapons programme

A body is found in a glitzy Gulf hotel — there are signs of a struggle but the door is locked from the inside.

An Iranian nuclear scientist is machine-gunned by a passing motorcyclist as he waits at a traffic light with his wife beside him. A Palestinian terrorist leader dies in agony, his terrifying illness a mystery to doctors, although his minders later discover there’s something odd about the toothpaste he’s been using.
In each case, as in scores of others, there was only one real suspect — the Mossad, Israel’s fearsome foreign intelligence service.

Israel's Mossad Is Helping To Combat The Covid-19 Coronavirus Pandemic

Central News Now/New York Times: Israel’s Not-So-Secret Weapon in Coronavirus Fight: The Spies of Mossad

TEL AVIV, Israel — When Israel’s health minister was found to be infected with the coronavirus early this month, all high-level officials in close contact with him were quarantined, including one who stood out: the director of the Mossad, the storied Israeli spy service.

Mossad officers, primarily associated with covert operations abroad in the name of protecting Israel, are not normally in the business of public health.

So Israelis were immediately intrigued.

Why would the Mossad director, Yossi Cohen, a widely respected figure in the country, have even been in the same room as the health minister, Yaakov Litzman?.

Mr. Cohen’s powerful agency, it turns out, has been deeply involved in Israel’s fight against the virus, and has been one of the country’s most valuable assets in acquiring medical equipment and manufacturing technology abroad, according to Israeli medical and security officials.

As countries around the world compete ferociously for limited supplies during the pandemic, they are turning to any help available, and flexing their muscles unapologetically.

Israeli Intelligence Reveal Their Capabilities After Recent Airstrikes

The two Lebanese militants onboard a flight to Iran to train at the Quds base . (photo credit: IDF)

Jerusalem Post: The power of Israeli intelligence in its recent attack on Iran - analysis

Stunningly, the IDF even published pictures of the two onboard a flight and near an airplane to Iran to take part in some of the training sessions.

With Monday morning’s jaw-dropping sharing of a wealth of intelligence by the IDF about the Iranian drone crew it struck in Lebanon, the power of Israeli intelligence became ever clearer.

The key to the IDF thwarting the planned attack by Iran on Israel was not merely that it identified the Lebanese operatives working with the Iranians who were en route to carry out their attack, but that it traced the presence of particular operatives involved in using drones on their way to the area before they got there.

Let’s analyze the information put out by the IDF. First, there were three casualties from the strike, two of whom were Hezbollah operatives being trained by Iran’s external intelligence Quds Force: Hassem Yussuf Zabib from Nabatieh in southern Lebanon, born in 1996, and Yasser Ahmed Tzahr from Beleide village, born in 1997.

Mossad Chief: Israel Has Solid Intel That Iran Carried Out Attacks on Gulf Tankers

Haaretz: Israel Has Solid Intel That Iran Carried Out Attacks on Gulf Tankers, Mossad Chief Says

Yossi Cohen also says there is a rare opportunity for Israel to reach a regional peace with its Mideast neighbors.

Iran is responsible for the recent attacks in the Gulf, Israel's Mossad chief asserted Monday, citing the "best sources of Israeli and Western intelligence agencies."

Speaking at a Herzliya conference, Yossi Cohen said that these attacks – which included targeting oil tankers, Saudi airports and sites in Baghdad – were approved by Iran's leadership and most were carried out by the Revolutionary Guard and its proxies.

"Through these attacks," said Cohen, "Iran is trying to tell the world it is not afraid of an escalation, and that if sanctions are not removed or eased it will cause serious harm to the global oil market."

Mossad Chief Is 100% Certain That Iran Is Seeks A Nuclear Bomb

Israel’s Mossad intelligence agency chief Yossi Cohen

Jerusalem Online: Mossad chief ‘100 percent certain’ Iran is seeking nuclear bomb, report says

In a closed meeting with senior officials, Mossad director Yossi Cohen reportedly called the Iran nuclear deal a mistake that would enable Tehran to achieve its vision and develop an arsenal of nuclear weapons.

Head of Israel’s Mossad agency Yossi Cohen is reportedly “100 percent certain” that Iran is committed to developing its nuclear weapons program. He also believes that the nuclear deal with Tehran must either be changed or entirely scrapped. Cohen had apparently made the comments during recent sessions on the topic with senior officials.

According to an AP report on Wednesday, Cohen called the nuclear deal a “terrible mistake” in discussions behind closed doors and said it allows the Islamic republic to keep parts of its nuclear program intact. Cohen had also stressed that Iran will be able to enrich enough uranium for an entire arsenal of nuclear weapons in the future, an anonymous source told the news agency. In addition, the intelligence chief claimed that easing sanctions on Iran resulted in the increased aggression of the republic, namely its development of long-range ballistic missiles.

Middle East Monitor: Director of Mossad: ‘we carry out thousands of operations in the enemy countries every year’

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Mossad Director Yossi Cohen spoke in a brief and vague manner about the operations of Mossad, at a ceremony to honour operative from the organization, Monday.

Israeli media quoted Netanyahu as saying to Mossad agents: “I salute you for your initiative, courage, professionalism, planning and implementation.” He went on “there are campaigns and intelligence operations that provide a counter attack to the central threats we are dealing with.” He also pointed out that the Mossad coordinates its actions with other Israeli security forces.

Israel's Mossad intelligence agency has set up an investment fund to help development of new cloak-and-dagger know-how and is offering grants of up to 2 million shekels (about $570,000) per project to bring in new ideas.

A government statement on Tuesday said Mossad was seeking technologies in various fields, including robotics, miniaturization and encryption as well as new automated methods of gleaning information from documents and new ways of carrying out operations more stealthily.

A statement by the new fund, called Libertad, said it would be willing to give grants of up to 2 million shekels per project in exchange for non-exclusive rights to the technology.

Developers would retain the rights to their product and could sell it on, it said.

Still, he added, he was confident the spy agency would be able to formulate an “appropriate response.”

“The key challenge is the Iranian threat,” Cohen said during the swearing-in ceremony at Mossad’s headquarters in Tel Aviv. “Despite the nuclear deal — I think because of it — the threat has significantly increased.”

Israel's Mossad Is Looking For New Recruits

Israel’s Mossad Comes In From The Cold In Search For New Recruits -- The Guardian

Israel’s infamous spy agency drops secretive cloak-and-dagger approach and goes online to seek out potential agents

It used to be that if you wanted to join one of the world’s most secretive espionage organisations you had to sneak into a foreign embassy, answer a cryptic newspaper ad or show up in a nondescript building in Tel Aviv to meet a shadowy recruiter. Now, all it takes to apply for a job at Israel’s Mossad spy agency is a click of the mouse.

The usually shadowy Mossad revamped its website last week to include a recruiting video and an online application option for those seeking employment. With versions in Hebrew, English, French, Russian, Arabic and Persian, the site looks to revolutionise the way Israel’s infamous agency seeks out potential agents after generations of backdoor, cloak-and-dagger antics.
